for me my next Camera will have to be full frame regardless of anything else.
so, not a 1D Mk4 then
If i had noticed that it was not FF then i would`nt have posted my previous comment! I must admit i presumed it to be FF at that price point!
The only spec info that i read only went as far as the ISO figures! My preference would be a Pentax FF even if it was only good for 800 ISO but High ISO Performance would be of great use to me and if Pentax don`t have a FF in the lineup by the time i`m ready for an upgrade then who knows where i might go shopping! (Maybe a D700x?)

I'd rather have more dynamic range than high iso...
what's the dif?
all the raw shadow to highlight detial captured in a 7 stop hdr image in a single click would mean more data to work with with less blown highlights and less muddy shadows....

who cares if you can shoot in near total dark, when a single match being lit results in blown highlights on the subjects face? Who wants to do 7 different exposures for an hdr image of a moving subject?

I want seven more stops worth of range in a single raw file than what we currently have....

use "Indoor" color balance, tripod, set your exposure for the lights inside the buildings, and wait for the light levels at dusk to balance with the interior light levels from the buildings....
rich dark blue skies and perfect lighting from the buildings and car light trails will result.

the 16-45 may be a little short in the long end for portriat work, the kit zom and a second hand fifty.... I did not know tamron had a "Soft" lens...Canon, I've heard has an extensive range of soft lenses.

Although the idea of mounting police style surveillance operations may become more appealing to me some time down the road, for now my main objective is to photograph my two young daughters around the house.

I find flash far too intrusive for that, and I would love to have the ability to use noise free ISO 3200 or 6400 so I could stop down to F/5.6 or even F/8 with faster shutter speeds and get a much higher percentage of shots in focus.

Put that into a small, lightweight package with video that autofocuses so I could give it to my dear old mother and get useable results and I am a buyer no matter what the brand.
Price of the canon? I.R. filters on your flash, and put the rest into a college fund?

If four out of five grown adults proclaim "It costs how much? My five year old could've made that!" I assume it must be art.

oh come on... they'll also carry your groceries, help you find everything on your list (kept on your phone), scan rift tags when you put stuff in them, take payment off your phone, and carry it to your car.... all the while bombarding you with commercials, or letting you browse the web... no tellers, no security guards... you might even find a warehouse store with no people at all, just email your list to thier website, pay online, drive up to the warehouse, key in your id code, pop the trunk, and wait a minute for the robot to deliver your goods...

Back on topic, I think I'll send my robot around to some ad agencies to see if it bombards them with samples of my work, if it'll generate more work...
let you guys know how that pans out, in January
