Why did I view that and go away tthinking : "I wonder how many of those photographers actually got shots that proved to be worth the effort, never mind "Great""?

Ok I got a samsung for $218.00 canadian... it regularly retails for $275.00

it calibtrated with the huey and seems to work/look fine, I will be doing some editing and printing later today.
will let you know how it works out. So far I'm optomistic that this was a good buy, because when my imac comes back, it will get used as a second monitor for video editing, and it is definately upto that job!

Hang on chaps....

A lot of my work, I never see. Some has had to be approved by the local ministry before it can be used, other is used or not used. As long as I get paid, it does not matter. I do think that large files/images allow a better crop factor.

I'm off over to Bahrain on Thursday and the K7 has to prove its worth at a Halloween party, daft thing is, I left the flashgun in the UK!!%##@@!@!

BUTTTTTT.... the 160 Ring flash arrives tomorrow (FEDEX have it now in town) so I am going to use that... needs must! Be interesting to see how it performs? Kids will think they are on Fashion TV.

one time where the red eye effect will be a bonus!!!

Cheap and decent quality don't rest easily together.

The monitor will affect everything you do, so the best is the best option.
I agree, but I'm getting my imac fixed, so any external monitor will eventually get regulated for use as a second screen with tool pallets etc, for now it's just gotta be able to calibrate with a huey and be serviceable for a week or two...... there are good values to be had in most price ranges....
I just don't usually shop for non apple computer stuff..

I got an imac in the shop this week...
thinkinging it might be usefull to grab an lcd monitor (17-24") to use with my macbooks until I get my imac back...( Apple was gracious to give us a free logic board on an outa warrenty imac...too cool)

so I'm thinking cheap.... but also need decent quality...

anybody know of any good values to look for, that can serve for digital imaging needs?

so, not a 1D Mk4 then
If i had noticed that it was not FF then i would`nt have posted my previous comment! I must admit i presumed it to be FF at that price point!
The only spec info that i read only went as far as the ISO figures! My preference would be a Pentax FF even if it was only good for 800 ISO but High ISO Performance would be of great use to me and if Pentax don`t have a FF in the lineup by the time i`m ready for an upgrade then who knows where i might go shopping! (Maybe a D700x?)

I'd rather have more dynamic range than high iso...
what's the dif?
all the raw shadow to highlight detial captured in a 7 stop hdr image in a single click would mean more data to work with with less blown highlights and less muddy shadows....

who cares if you can shoot in near total dark, when a single match being lit results in blown highlights on the subjects face? Who wants to do 7 different exposures for an hdr image of a moving subject?

I want seven more stops worth of range in a single raw file than what we currently have....
Hi,
Actually i read in AP last year that this is likely. The proposal is for a single exposure so that there would be no need for different shutter speeds or aperture, Though quite what that would do for creativity in a DSLR type camera i do not know! I presume that it meant just for Point and Shoot Camera`s. But i suppose it could have a use in a more limited way to expand dynamic range, Provided we could keep the range of exposure control.
Best Regards - Pete
set the aperture and shutter in camera, dial in how much dynamic range you want in post..
