How about a portrait crop with just the left hand foreground flower?

My mushroom book suggests a Pearl-Studded Puffball. Edible when still white and firm.

If you are looking for an 18-55 SRS have some at £39 at the moment.(free postage if you tell them your a member here) There is even a white one!

SRS also have several 50-200's at £99.
I have one and a 55-300 but the 50-200 gets used more as it is smaller, lighter and easy to slide in a pocket. It also complements the 18-55 perfectly with a small overlap.
With both of these you have 18 to 200mm covered which should cover most normal photo opportunities.

Several of both of these on ebay for around the same price but you pay the postage and there is a 3 month warranty from SRS.

Well I have the sigma 10-20, the Samsung(pentax) 10-17 and the 10-17 gets more use to be honest but not for straight landscapes usually.

I bought a 16-45 shortly after I moved to digital and it is still the most used lens I have. Great for landscape, architecture and so much more. Best value lens I have, without doubt.

As Stefan said, the extra 2mm from the kit lens makes a big difference.
