As someone who enjoys slamming some Kodak bw400cn in the old MX once and awhile, with only gut instinct and the hilariously simplistic light meter in the viewfinder, I can only scratch my head here...

Perhaps you should move to Sony or something so you can see the 'live' exposure in the EVF Nigel, then perhaps you can go out and have a bit more fun

I liked how you looked through the viewfinder and then pressed the shutter button.

Yes, love my chromebook, but even if there were the software to run on, it doesn't have to gut power to do the processing. Plenty of online apps for JPEGs though pixlr.com is quite good.

I like it Tim, it is clean, uncluttered and simple. It responds quickly and is easy to navigate. It is also very easy on the eye and the images are reproduced in good quality.

No criticism from me.
I would agree, particularly with image quality, this is not always a given. I would also say I'm a fan of Homepages that scroll, like this one, you can quickly look over lots of info without doing much. I think either scroll all the way, or not at all is best, maybe its just my screen but you might want to make the other pages a little smaller so there is no scroll on them?

Depends the client and context, be it yourself, for a competition, magazine, for an employer etc.

I would echo DrO's point and David Storms recent thread and ask just what standard of critique are we expecting on here? We get complaints every so often demanding more, but what do we realistically expect?

For instance we've had many good landscapers come and go on here, but could any of them really give you an insight into the mind of Charlie Waite to help you start winning prizes or indeed - HIS prizes? I like taking 'scenery' shots but could only give you a my impressions up to a certain point but really what worth they would be to anyone desperate to 'improve' I'm not so sure.

We like to slag off 'nice shot' comments, but in reality and certainly with most of the big sites, gauging you work by these comments and the number of views is really all you can hope for, and in a way, is perhaps not that bad after all?

Anything more than that then your average interweb photo critic is being particularly generous with their time IMO.

Can't think of many others.

Saw a comment on Youtube he moved to a Fuji x-t1, so you can make your own assumptions regards he leaving...

...and there in lay the modern day syndrome some folk just move between gadgets, victims of the marketing bandwagon, spending 99.9% of the time reading lens and camera reviews rather than actually going out and taking photos. Some sort of schizophrenic grass is greener syndrome.

Changing systems is not going to make up for actually going out into the Lakes at 5am, or setting up a tripod on a single flower and waiting an hour for a macro, or taking a suitcase worth of gear to set up a proper studio shot or etc etc etc etc...

Also, I'm running a Kannon six dee along side my Pentax gear, but its sounding like I'm not allowed to discuss this, however well the K5IIs might come out in my opinions?

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has come across an issue of colour balances differing across different display devices? My boss is convinced his Apple devices are showing different colour balances to others, ie his are the correct one

I am fairly sure my PC is spot on, (I'm sure someone in internet land would have let me know), the only thing I have giving a similar version to these Apple machines is my Sony smartphone.

Just wondering if hardware out there is giving different results simply because 'that's the way it is', or if there is something else going on?

A good way to test might be handy too

Cheers all

I really like the project, and certainly admire the 'cojones', I am doing my own little urban project but have yet to get people involved, maybe never will...

However I would agree with Smeghead, for me, they are empty and lack context. They feel like passport photos, or photo's you might get in a health magazine comparing skin ageing affects of various lotions.

But don't listen to me, and certainly don't stop, as you say, who knows where it may lead to!
