That would leave me with a lens that I would not need - since I got one with the new toy. I'm watching one on eBay right now, and I think that I have the price about right. If you want to make me an offer for the whole package, go right ahead. I will not be offended, and the decision can only go one of two ways.

Pentax K100D Super and 18-55 mm kit lens. 14 months old (Bought as a factory refurb from Clifton Cameras. Have no paperwork from them to me despite asking.), Shutter count is 235, and body is unmarked except for one small scuff just behind the right hand neck-strap loop. With body cap, eyecup rubber, original Neck-strap, two sets of NiMH rechargeable AA cells, 2gb Kingston SD card. Lens is as new with both end-caps. No box, but printed manual, video cable, USB cable, 2CDs with software, and manuals.
It’s only for sale because I picked up a new (yes really) K200D yesterday.
A quick Google search for the model/lens gives what seem to be silly prices - £400 right up to £600 (yes, really).
I think that £250 plus postage seems more realistic.

Last year, the US magazine Digital Photopro devoted a page in the Sept/Oct edition to this very subject. Their conclusion was that the professional photo-lab has been reinvented, and that many of the old labs are now offering extra services like web hosting and order processing. The old labs that have not kept up-to-date have mostly folded. Of course, that's the US for you and we do it differently (or do we just copy a few years later.

To add to what hefty1 wrote: the real need is to find some optician who actually fits the lenses him/her self. Actually this is the real definition of an "Optician" - sort of an Optical Technician (or so my old Optician told me) the big chains contract all the work out, and so do many of the smaller ones. Lens blanks are still made in this country (near Bristol) as well as by firms like Rodenstock and Pentax, so any real optician should be able to cut one down to fit.
Another alternative should be to ask the target shooting fraternity wheer they get lenses for their shooting glasses. The rules used to say that optical correction must be worn, and not fitted to the rifle or air rifle, and I doubt if they have changed since my time.

Big difference for me is that using direct Camera to PC (usually) uses up the camera battery; using a card reader does not. With the advent of the 4gb+ card, there were (maybe still are)lots of good quality 2gb SD cards about at keen prices (try the 7-Day Shop). I try to download the files on card every day if possible, and at the end of a trip if not. With a holder full of 2gb cards, I cannot easily run out of storage even with RAW files (said he with fingers crossed)

Just one more thought:
Get into a Walmart. Find the rack of photo accessories. The 1A and Circular Polariser filters are usually very cheap, but look for the stick-on protector films for the monitor screen - and get the largest size available. I was able to protect my K100DS and a smaller pocket camera (like an Optio but by someone else) for my daughter, all with one sheet of film.

I just could not resist ... went back to the Amazon website again.
They are now offering a K100D (without even the Super suffix)at the exceptional price of £649). Looking at other threads on the "forth-coming" replacements for the K200, K20, K-m [insert model here]and think that the marketing people do seem to have lost the plot.
I am now thinking that it might be smart to download the specifications of all the K-xxx D models while they are still on the web, just to have as reference when a "real" bargain is offered.
Oh, and the Amazon site also offers the K10D but states that a later model is available - yes, that's right, the K20D!

The "Tower" suffix kept niggling me - I knew I had seen this before. It was the special brand on old (i.e. M42) Pentaxes sold in the US by Sears Roebuck. So the K100DS Tower models are almost certainly non-UK-market (and being offered at one heck of a markup) I don't think there will be takers at that price, but it might be worth watching until they become a "clearance item" for anyone who wants a spare body.
