Just FWIW:
I'm using Firefox right now, as that's the browser that has PentaxUser right at the top of the history list. But, that is Firefox 3.5.5 running on an XP-Home SP2 system. For other jobs I use IE, and K-meleon, and Safari (have not updated this for a year, and it does crash fairly often) and Opera.
Currently, I prefer Firefox for the things that come up fastest on the history list, Opera for general browsing) and IE for those annoying sites that will not work with anything else.
I tend to use Opera more than Safari on a Mac - really, because it seems to work the same on both systems.

This is for the digression into "film and airport scanners"
Most of my traveling has been to the US, but FWIW:
-Take the minimum amount of film for the first two days, then buy more in a Walmart or K-Mart It will be dearer than 7-day Shop, but it will not have been through a scanner.
-Put the film, and camera separately in your cabin bag. Make sure the carton is still sealed. "Look Mr Inspector, I just bought it". You can always load it later.
-If you feel really flush, buy the film in Dixons' air-side.
-Don't bring any film home. Have it processed locally. This can be a whole lot cheaper than the UK. That's less scanners to go through.
-Most fair-size rental cars have an air-conditioned glove-box - guess what you can put in there.

Well, it was not exactly a Club meet, but:
I was in Normandy two weeks back - at the LeClerc Memorial at the North end of Utah Beach - taking a shot of the only Sherman tank that I know of in Free French paintwork. As I walked back to the car, this guy gets out of a French registered car and walks over to do the same thing. Each of us is clutching a Pentax Digital, and nods to the other.

This was what dougf8 wrote. I know the feeling. For years I used ASA400 film, and Aperture Priority (more interested in controlling the DOF). Then came the Super A. Wow - all these settings - gotta play. Now on the digitals I have set the equiv. film-speed down to ASA200, turn the dial to P and concentrate on framing the shot. Makes me think that a bit more time spent matching the Photoshop Resampling to the sensor pixel size, and upping the ASA setting might give better results.
When I taught HCI, one lecture was really on the theme of "Give people a control and they will fiddle with it - don't assume any set of operating conditions, so design for the median". Should have paid more attention to what I was saying.

Not in London, sorry. About 100 miles West (sort of).

Watched the shifting prices (worse than the stock market), found the boxes, didn't like the wording (I'd missed something out), so:

Pentax K100D Super with 18-55 mm kit lens. Two sets of NiMH rechargeable AA cells, 2gb Kingston SD card. 14 months old (Bought as a factory refurb from Clifton Cameras. Have no paperwork from them to me despite asking). Screen protector from new. Shutter count is 235, and body is unmarked except for one small scuff just behind the right hand neck-strap loop. With body cap, eyecup rubber, original neck-strap. Lens is as new and has both end-caps. Both boxes, video cable, USB cable, 2CDs with software and manuals. Printed manual
It’s only for sale because I picked up a new (ex-demo) K200 D in PC World.
I think that £200 with UK postage seems about right today.

What will you gain from a change to a faster processor? How much of your existing software will run on a 64-bit system? If you have to buy new, will the saving make a difference?

To a pro, doing a batch process on a whole lot of RAW files, this could really matter; to me, playing around with one shot, I have a lot of time to spare.

Before I retired (two whole months ago) the general opinion was that AMD had sort-of lost their way, and Intel were the brand again. Of course, with Apple now on Intel and the ability to run OS X and Windows 7 on the same machine, the choice is both easy and difficult.

More important is the matter of memory - how much ram do you want/need? All my PCs and Apples work fine with 1gb (or less), but I have friends who talk glibly of 4gb.
