You don´t need apologize for this, and don´t be so severe with yourself. I also had many times a “Dirk could try harder” during my scholarship.
All we (the entrants) know that the principal proposal of our Weekly Competition is just for fun and mainly for learn. The judge position (you debuted with) is the most instructive, interesting and helpful part of this competition learning tool.
I did the judging work twice, and I can say without any fear of fall in a mistake, that after the judging’s works, I began look in the camera viewfinder in other manner, with completely other mind.

Congratulations Mc Brian for the well deserved First Place! And thanks Promhandicam for judging the comp.
The image is the original version of my entry. And the obvious differences are PS (and my own) devilry.

As you say above, Steve, judging a competition sometimes can becomes in a little daunting job, and also the images first impressions can be inadvertently misinterpreted. This is the first time I have had to judge this sort of competition and as others have found it was quite daunting.
Dirk1000 – You and your lovely wife I take it? Forgive me if I am wrong but you appear to have added your wife into the photo – judging by the way the left side of her body appears to have been chopped off. If it is a photoshopped composition then I think it would have been better to have your faces closer together and cropped a bit tighter to loose the joint line – I’d also include the top of your head.
