"La Torre de los Ingleses"





My entry image of the week was taken from the balcony of the tower…

Is a monument located at the neighborhood of RETIRO in Buenos Aires ( Britania square).

Built by British Residents in commemoration to the first century of the “Revolución de Mayo”.

The building company was “Hopkins & Gardom”. All the building materials (Portland stones, Leicester bricks, etc.) were carried from England.

The tower project was done by Ambrose Poynter, grandchild of the founder of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Inaugurated the 24 May of 1916, delayed six years by the WW1.
