It's the old adage that it's the photographer that matters, not the camera. These are a great demonstration of the Q's capabilities, at launch it was a ludicrous offering but as it settles at more realistic pricing it begins to look like a fairly decent buy.

If I didn't have a £199 (after cashback) clearance GF3 I'd be eyeing these up!

Great set here, Lemurs seem to be a very curious and sociable breed. #2 and 10 are my personal favourites. There's a walk-through Lemur enclosure at Blackpool Zoo, though the light is rarely as favourable as this!

After bumping into the PU chaps at Saltaire I'd have liked to make this but have other commitments at weekend. However I am heading to the Lakes the following weekend so will keep a close eye on your locations and results

Have a great day.

Caught some good light here and the exposure is spot on, keeping the clouds defined whilst showing movement in the water. Good stuff!

The portrait version fares a little better in my eyes thanks to the leading line in your composition. The first one has a little spare space to the right of frame, have you tried cropping it in a square format, losing roughly the right third and a sliver off the bottom? Just tried masking it like that with a bit of black card and liked it

The squirrel is my fave though, lovely to see a little red.

Why not try a positive spin on the situation?

Cameraphones are near ubiquitous and provide initial access to digital photography for many many people around the world. Some of those people will likely get the photo bug and mature into incredible, inspirational photographers regardless of the equipment they later use.

It doesn't matter what the norm is or the norm becomes, quality will always shine.

Since replacing the DS2 with a twin dial K10, Hyperprogram (P mode) with manual ISO control has been my preferred mode of operation through subsequent K mounts, with occasional dips into manual and (on the K5) TAv. It's pretty intuitive and the thing I miss most when using other cameras where I have to fall back to 'standard' Av/Tv (with Manual + auto ISO = TAv on some bodies)

Hyperprogram can't be beaten though - a press of the green button when putting the camera down means it's at the ready for a grab shot, with a quick tweak of either dial giving instant creative control. Brilliant, simple and why it hasn't been appropriated elsewhere I'm not sure.

A few of mine now online - as stated earlier, not taken with Pentax equipment so link for those interested.

Howdo - pleasure to stumble across you chaps and I wasn't too annoyed, though did feel like a round peg in a square hole toting another brand. Nice to see so many Pentax people in one place and some cracking shots you gents have gathered!

I wouldn't trust that particular exposure to give me an accurate indicator of the lens performance - tripod or not, 1/100th is a pretty slow shutter speed at 500mm on APS-C.

You're doing the right thing by not having the lens wide open, using mirror up, timer delay etc but you'll have to find a brighter day, brighter subject and probably also bump the ISO to get the shutter speed up. I'd suggest faster than 1/500th for starters

Re-acquainted myself with the svelte Pentax K5 on a recent short break to Mallorca. To kick off, a few touristy panos... larger versions of the first three are on Flickr.
