You will have to diffuse the flash whichever one you go for, whether it's a single, twin or ring.
I use a ring flash on all my bug shots. I made up a diffuser to fit on it and it works fine for my needs.

Cheers Haris. I got the extra magnification alright but at that level of magnification diffraction is a problem and the iq isn't super. Was worth a shot though 😁

I always leave the tripod at home.
All my macros are shot handheld. I end up on my knees, laying down, climbing into bushes, trees. Tried the tripod once, just not for me, out in the field.
Keep a look out for a Set of ext tubes. Fairly cheep and you'll get more magnification
