No aperture ring though which is restrictive for a macro lens.
you just set it via the camera, you have full controls from that
It would be restrictive for macro for anyone using contactless ext tubes, all bellows and anyone using butchered zoom methods / setups.
Hi Derek, not restrictive for a butchered zoom as you would have the aperture contacts on the glass-less zoom. Probably not a great setup though, a butchered zoom is more useful with a reversed 50mm lens or a reversed enlarger lens.

David
Cool, having not gone down that route, I had assumed the glassless zoom would be on the camera, leaving the 70mm reversed on it, without any means of changing aperture.

You forgot reversing the lens
Ahh I thought that was included in the butchered zoom method

Stand out shot for me is no 4, the tower and light just lend themselves to this perfectly.
Followed closely by 5, 8 and 13.
But overall a very accomplished set,
Its not something I've tried out yet, but I'm sure it takes some amount of vision and skill to produce anything like these.

Is the 28mm f3.5 you have, the K 28mm.
That's really well regarded and when I had one, i just loved the iq.
I have no experience with the newer sigma that Jonathan-Mac suggested. But to be honest, either of the 2 lenses you initially suggested should be capable of giving you the results you want. It's a toughy

When I was in the market for filters last year, I was actually looking for kase, but couldn't find stock anywhere, ended up with nisi. Which turned out positive anyway.

Nice series of shots David.
Good little bio too.
Set works perfectly as a whole.

The problem with the 16-85mm is that it's slow, which makes it much less useful in low light. A very different lens from an 18-50mm f/2.8.
Ah I know that, which is why I said it depends on the type of shooting he wants to do.

How many cards do you have at this stage David?
I take my cards out, pc has a built in card reader, copy files to pc then card back in camera and reformat.
