I like them all, but #2 Is Lovely.
I must confess to quite liking #11, albeit with a slightly tighter crop off the bottom, not much, just under where the blur starts to clear. I think its the way it frames the clarity beyond that i like. I could be wrong though, hence my sig

Hi Patrick, if you use Google chrome there is a way to watch it in Ireland. Just download the Hola app, its a Google app so nothing dodgy about it. It allows you to change the country that the pc thinks its in. You can toggle it back to Ireland when your done watching your ad.

Thanks guys. Like I said it was first time trying it. It's a very fast game so I enjoyed trying to keep up with the pace of it.

Went to take some shots at a local match this evening, first time to try a Gaa game. Just spent half an hour to see what it was like.
Shot using k5iis and tokina atx sd 100-300 f4 manual focus.
Shot in manual, iso 800, f8, shutter 1/1600th

(just noticed some wonky horizons)

I would have to agree with Nigel ' s point about the front element being the limiting factor, as I discovered last week. The lens I was using wasn't wr so I was using a brolly, but even if it had been wr the front element getting drops on it is what ruined the shots anyway. I think most of the hoods on the telephoto's would probably do a fair job of keeping the rain off the front element but for wide angle lenses probably not.

This is how I did mine, there are other methods.

AF fine adjustment is the menu you need. On yours it allows a different adjustment for each lens, while on older models it is a one-size-fits-all adjustment.

On a camera body with Live View (which we can take to be perfect for this purpose) then do the following:

1. On a tripod, use LV to focus on a specific clear object a few metres away. Like a poster on the wall.

2. Once focussed, place a mark on the focussing ring (or on a piece of masking tape on the ring) to show where the exact point of focus is in relation to the centre line.

3. Defocus the lens completely by putting your hand in front of it and focussing on that.

4. Focus the lens again using normal AF, rather than LV.

5. Is the mark you made in LV now exactly aligned, or is the focus point slightly different?

6. Adjust AF offset until the two match exactly.

Once done the normal AF can be set to match the Live View AF and you have exact focus.
I hope this is all that is stopping you from getting the sharpness you want.
Let us know how. It goes.

I would agree with Nigel about not recommending green mode. You would have no control over too many elements, might as well take a decent point and shoot as do that. Use the mode that you are most familiar with. Don't sell yourself short. You have some very nice shots in your p/f. Try and have some sort of plan of how the day will go, times, travelling, venue, meals, speeches and of course the b & g. If you haven't already done so I'd fine tune your lenses, don't want to end up with perfectly exposed and composed shots only to find that the focus is slightly off. And try and enjoy the day, (try) )
