Not everybody's cup of tea I know but may be of interest to the wildlifers.
I have purchased one of these for my DA*300mm. Also available for the 560 mm and 200mm. It has separate sections so there is no loss of functionality and cut outs for the tripod mount, distance scale etc. I have found it great for preventing bumps and scratches - not sure whether the camo really makes any difference to the birds. Think it could be reversed to black.
I should add that I contacted them to point out that many Pentax Wildlife might have the DA*300mm as the FA which was the only one they did wasn't current. I supplied all of the measurements and the photo is in my back garden as I had the prototype to test!I also pointed out we like a bargain and would prefer to pay less than Canonikon equivalents It is £35 for the 300mm, £32 for 200mm and £48.50 for 560mm.
I hasten to add I have no interest in the Company and don't get commission!

Me too, only just found out today although ordered last week.
"Just a quick update; Pentax have contacted us to say that the delivery is slightly delayed and the item is now due mid next week.

May I apologise for the delay, but Pentax have assured us there will be no further delays."
Still at that price I can't complain.

I suspect the benefit will come to wildlife photographers who need to heavily crop, at the point where the image without the TC would be close to getting pixellated, the TC image giving that bit more latitude.

Great test series and good in their own right David. My TC is taking a while to arrive. My daughters and wife seem to think no.2 is the best technically
As for comments, I have to admit I always forget this page is here as it is off the screen when you go into forums, which is where I usually look first. A case of "must try harder" I think, for all of us.

Ermm, I see what you mean Alan. Blast! I think finances will just about let me hold out - for now. All I have to do is get my fieldcraft 10 yds better!
Indeed it is a very nice Little Ringed Plover.

First shot with mine:

K-5IIs, DA*300 + HD 1.4 Converter, this was shot from approx. 30 feet away, ISO 400, Shutter 1/100, hand-held. First impressions are great, impact on IQ is negligible, I can't wait to try this with the 100mm F2.8 macro lens.

Looking forwards to seeing them David. That's the crux - F4 is sharp, makes a lot of difference in wildlife.

Checked - definitely nothing on the lens or sensors. Read that link on the other forum and it does sound a bit like my problem. I just keep looking at that pic and thinking - How can the front stuff be in focus but the back antenna be sharper than the front but the wings be so soft? What if the lens was right at its minimum focus distance. Could it be focusing on the back antenna which is far enough away to just be on the minimum and the leaves at the front because they are actually off at angle so further and back within the minimal focus distance? I was pretty close to the subject on thinking about it.
