Many thanks to Tom (tomkeet). He let me try out his DA 560 today. Also caught up with Barrie.

Here's just a few from the day.

I do like the gull, especially the second photo, it catches an unusual perspective and has good contrasting background, nice reflection, has fantastic clarity, and some interesting bokeh effects. Clearly if one can afford the 560mm, it will offer some new possibilities. Sadly I am not in that category!

Plastic and perspex bird feeders, on the other hand, are an anathema to me, but I accept that you post this to show us the potential of that fantastic lens.

Thanks Ronnie. I don't do bird feeders either, but as you say this is showing the capabilities of the DA 560 by itself and also together with the 1.4xTC. That's 784mm.

Here is a 100% crop. Not perfect. But focus wasn't calibrated and there must be a learning curve at these kind of focal lengths

According to my book that last one of Toms is a male Little Ringed Plover and I quote "Scarce even on passage".

BTW don't expect any from me and my 300, not after putting these up

Ermm, I see what you mean Alan. Blast! I think finances will just about let me hold out - for now. All I have to do is get my fieldcraft 10 yds better!
Indeed it is a very nice Little Ringed Plover.

Thanks Dave. That one was handheld too and it was quite small in the viewfinder, so that's a sizeable crop
