It won't make much difference. We are going to have to rely on Pentax from now on. I was in SRS today taking back my non-focusing faulty (just "repaired"! ) DA*300 and the rep I spoke to wasn't very hopeful when I asked him about the Sigma lenses. He also said the KS1 is selling badly and mirrorless is taking over. Doesn't bode well for us I think.

Neil P mentioned to me about a screw on the mount (well not actually a screw, more a pin with a slotted head) that had got loose on his DA*300. I located it and turned it and it appears to have done the trick with it now focusing both manually and auto. When you turn this it reaches a point where it feels like it is up against a spring and shouldn't be turned further. Of course it might be because it is back in the warm and something has expanded enough for the clutch mechanism to start working again.

I may be getting muddled. SRS sent it to their independent repairer (Had 3 initials but can't remember) who couldn't get the parts so they sent it to the Pentax repairer which I think was Johnsons.
Anyway, after a suggestion from Neil P I tried turning a slotted pin on the mount (not an actual screw) which seems to end with a spring like feel. It now seems to be engaging. It could of course be due to expansion in the relatively warm interior which has done enough to get it working. I hate intermittent faults because if i send it back and they can't replicate it you don't know where you are.

All of them, especially the one I've not seen before like the Kingfisher.

Unfortunately they couldn't repair it so it went to Johnsons via SRS so I should be ok I think. Very annoying all the same.

Having waited 2 months to get the SDM motor replaced by Pentax for £200 it has now developed another fault after a month back. The AF failed to do anything. Tried cleaning contacts, new battery etc. then realised that MF was just turning round and round without changing the focus at all. Then it will move it a bit, then the AF starts working but MF doesn't. Any ideas what can cause this. It feels like it is not engaging with whatever turns the elements, physically rather than electronically. Any ideas. Obviously I will have to send it back again.

Focus ability surprises me, especially if object was relatively small.
