The B&W one has something the other doesn't - a focal point. Both make one wonder what the heck it might be but the colour view has nothing to call attention. Giulio points this up perhaps by attempting to read a story into it and wanting a "refugee" in frame to support that story. Also you may have missed a vertical composition that makes use of the two tree trunks in front of the main opening ...
