Mine is an early version with probably close to 10k shots. The issue was first spotted after the camera had been sitting unused for a few months during the first part of the pandemic, battery inserted. It happened a couple of times I think, again when sat unused.

I've not seen it more recently, even when leaving the camera for a few weeks to a month.

@David, could you share images of the repair? I'd be interested in seeing what the end product looks like.
Hi HarisF1, do you mean the repair on the rear screen?

Cheers, David

Hi All

Here are images and details of some really nice lenses I'm selling, please PM me if interested. These will also be listed on ebay, but I'm happy to end the ebay auctions if anyone on here wants any of them. All prices are excluding shipping, postage costs will depend on the buyer's preference, or they can be collected from my home in Sheffield (S21) if that's a better option. The lenses are all in full working order, with no fungus, no haze, no aperture issues, no focus issues, no zoom issues. All have been carefully used and carefully stored when not in use.

Pentax DA*50-135 - Excellent Condition - No SDM issues
I've used this lens extensively over the past couple of years without any issues. The only 'fault' is that one of the latches on the lens cap has lost its springiness, but it still attaches to the front of the lens without a problem. Many of the images in my gallery portfolio are shot with this lens. Selling only because of acquiring a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 (full frame lens). Price: £350

Samsung D-Xenon 12-24 F/4 (DA 12-24 equivalent)
Again, this lens has been exclusively used by me for several years, it is working faultlessly and has no issues. Selling only due to acquiring full frame equivalent lenses. Price £250.

Sigma 17-70 DC Macro F/2.8-4 HSM
Great all-round lens with close focusing ability and near silent HSM motor. This has been my 'go-to' walkaround lens for APS-C and is in excellent condition, fully working with no issues. Selling only due to acquiring full-frame equivalent lenses. Price £125.

This is a bit of an odd one, I got this lens last year bundled with a camera I purchased and it's been sitting around for nearly 12 months as I don't have a use for it. The lens is being sold at a ridiculously low price of £75, plus shipping of the buyer's choice, for the following reasons:

- It looks as though it has been apart for cleaning, although everything is secure and working correctly
- There is damage around the edge of one of the inner lens elements - this can be seen through the front element but it has zero effect on images shot with this lens
- The front elements look a little hazy, as if someone has not quite got the cleaning right, but again I can't see any effect on images shot with the lens
- There is no fungus
- HSM motor works properly and is almost silent
- Aperture is snappy with no oil on the blades
- There are no scratches on the front or rear elements

The lens focuses and calibrates accurately on both of my K-1's and images taken with it are correctly exposed. It appears to be very sharp when stopped down a little. The buyer must understand the condition as described above, but given this it's a bargain for anyone who can accept it is less than perfect. Please PM me if interested, it will also be for sale on ebay, but I'm happy to stop the ebay auction if someone on this forum wants the lens. Images of the lens are shown below, the final one is a shot taken with the lens today, settings are ISO 200 and F/2.5 on my K-1.

Hi All

Just a quick heads up that I will be selling some APS-C lenses soon, will probably put them on ebay auctions, but I wanted to give a heads-up here first as this Forum has always been very good to me in terms of buying and selling quality gear. Those who know me will be aware that I look after my equipment very well and the lenses mentioned here are all in excellent condition and fully working, with no haze or fungus, no marks on the optics and no operational issues. I will definitely have the following available:

DA*50-135 in excellent condition, no SDM issues, £350

DA 12-24 (Samsung D-Xenon version), also in excellent condition, £250

Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4 Macro HSM, superb condition, £125

If there's any interest, please PM me and I can take some images of the lenses (not had chance to do this yet, having only just got back from Corfu).

I may have other lenses and also possibly a KP, a K3 and a K1 available, but I will post separately on these as and when I'm ready to sell.

Cheers
David

I have the exact same issue with one of my K-1's!!!!

This is a camera that I recently bought on ebay, it had a cracked rear screen which I've since successfully repaired with windscreen resin. When first picked up and used, the first frame is often blank, but the camera then works perfectly on all subsequent shots, there are no issues with the exposure of any images, the problem appears to be the shutter is not opening on the first image. It seems to me that there are too many of us reporting the exact same issue for it to be a coincidence. My camera has only just over 4,000 shutter clicks, so is not worn out!

My other K-1, also on 4,000 clicks, does not show this issue (this is an earlier serial number than the one which has the problem).

Firmware is up to date on both cameras.

I wonder if Pentax are aware of this?

It's been a long time since I posted a set of images, I do still post on the Gallery, but haven't been very active on the forum in recent times. These are just a selected few shots from our time in Corfu this year (we live in Corfu for 8 months of the year), no specific themes, just a selection of shots. Most are with the K-1 and either the Tamron SP 17-35, the Pentax 28-105 or the Tamron 70-300, some are with the KP, DA*300 and DA*50-135. All comments welcomed.

Superb deal that, especially after you get the crack sorted!
Yes, it was an ebay purchase, I couldn't quite believe I managed to win it for that price. I suppose a lot of people would be put off by the crack in the rear screen, but I know it can be very easily fixed (have done it before) and so I took a chance on it. We're in Corfu at the moment, but my Son has tested it and everything works as it should, so it's a bargain.

A K-1 Mk1 with 4,000 shutter clicks for only £575. There's a slight catch in that the rear screen has a crack (all still works perfectly), but that can easily be fixed with some windscreen repair resin.
