Lovely images Alan, I'm quite impressed by how clean they look. The IQ from the Q appears to be pretty good.

I personally cannot understand why anyone would want a 110 camera. The image quality of 110 was useless and with so many decent compact digitals around (see Galoot's post about Pentax Optio i10 for £34.95), what is the point? Why is it more fun?

Since AA's are rated at 1.5 volts per battery, all 4 should provide 6 volts.
AA Rechargeables are not rated at 1.5 volts, they are 1.2 volts. This will be when at full capacity, so I would expect that 4 of these would not yield any more than a maximum of 4.8 volts. More usually 4.5 would be a realistic output.

I have a pretty good macro lens would it be worth getting tubes?
It depends how close you want to get and what magnification you are after. Even a 1:1 Macro lens is not enough for most macro photographers and the best way to get closer without losing IQ is to use tubes or to reverse the lens (which is trickier). Tubes are not easy but can yield spectacular results. Be prepared for fully manual operation (exposure and focussing) unless you spend a lot (£100+) on tubes that maintain automatic functions. I would recommend you buy quality second hand tubes from the likes of FFordes Photography, not the cheap ones on ebay & Amazon as these are absolute rubbish. £15 will get you a quality set of manual tubes.

Apart from the first one, all excellent.

The first one is a puzzle and looks wrong. This seems to be because the zone of sharp focus ends abruptly at the feet of the couple, as though drawn with a ruler. Everything in front is sharp as a tack, everything beyond is uniformly blurred. Very odd....
I think this may be due to undulations in the shingle John, the peak of the shingle is exactly on the plane of sharp focus, whereas the next visible bit of shingle is some distance behind.

I like this image and all of the others too. A great set.

Thanks Smeggy, much appreciated. I quite like the white van one for the very reason you mention!

All K5 and Siggie 150-500
Impressive Alan, I think I would really struggle to achieve anything like that level of sharpness with my K-5 and Sigma 50-500, regardless of aperture, focal length or shutter speed.

Hi Stan, it's a little out of focus; you should be able to get razor-sharp results with this lens given a bit of practice. Can you tell us what aperture it was taken at?

Here's a couple of links to ones taken with the same lens, the first is sharp, the second not quite as good: link link

They are all magnificently sharp and detailed Alan and the conversions are first class. Would you mind telling us which lens you used for these?

Thanks to everyone for the helpful comments and assistance! I purposefully posted some that I thought were 'difficult' to see what CC I could get and I think it's been a very worthwhile exercise. I really like Alan's re-working of #1, this is by far my favourite. All were shot without a ND grad, unlike some earlier in the day which were much better balanced (it had rained hard and I'd removed the filter and put it away).

Best wishes
David
