Very nice shots Kris, I'm unsure whether I prefer the original colour balance or the second one on the Moon shot, the second is probably more accurate, but I like the warmth in the first one.

Hello Mac, I've mentioned this before on several threads, I don't understand why you don't just buy a few of the cheap M42 to K adaptors, remove the spring clip and mount them permanently to each of your M42 lenses. This way they are as easy to use as a bayonet lens and this is a lot cheaper and more convenient than buying another DSLR body. All of my M42 lenses have adaptors permanently attached; it works great and I have no problems with any of them, including weighty telephotos.

I presume if you use live view it will not make any difference
It will make a difference regardless of whether or not you use Live View. You will still get some light leakage if you don't cover the viewfinder.

how much light can actually get past the raised mirror anyway?
Small amounts, but when you're doing a long exposure this can make a big impact on the final image. A small amount of light falling on the sensor for 2 to 3 minutes for example can be clearly seen as streaks in the image.

You have a PM Timbo.

It's important to cover the eyepiece, the longer the exposure, the more important this gets. The issue is not so much whether the exposure will be out, it's more that you can end up with streaks on the image where light leakage over-exposes parts of it compared to other parts. There is nothing you can do to rectify this in PP.

I can't really advise on the Prime Tim, unless it's one of the older MF lenses, but I was wondering whether you considered the Pentax DA 17-70 when looking at zooms?

I haven't used the 4 section one and cannot really see the benefit of 4 sections, other than the smaller size when not in use. I would guess the 3 section is marginally more rigid, but these tripods are so solidly made and so robust that I don't think it will make a great deal of difference in practice. I don't think you have anything to be concerned about either way.

I don't use the Penjtax eyepiece as it doesn't fit the K-5. I've made one out of cardboard covered with black electrical tape and it works perfectly.

Light will enter the eyepiece if you're doing long exposure shots so it is important that you keep it covered.

I like her armpits, along with all her other bits......

Apart from No. 6, the second one is also the stand-out for me but they are all superb.
