That's quite impressive Simon, lovely sharpness and somewhat more saturated colours than is typical of lenses from that era. That will be the Pentax coatings I suspect. I have a couple of 'M' lenses, both of which render colours beautifully, but neither are in the telephoto category. Thanks for posting.

I missed this set earlier, some really nice images here. All very 'natural'; the fifth one for me (the BW) is my personal favourite.

It's interesting that you mention the attitudes towards photographing children. I was out for a walk a couple of weekends ago with Shaun Wilson (Puma) and Graham Williams (Shiner) in Delamere Forest. Towards the end of the walk I spotted a large puddle in the middle of the path, which had some rather nice reflections of a family of four in it (two adults, two children). With a wide-angle lens attached, I took a couple of shots of the puddle (not pointing the camera at the family) and was immediately asked some questions in rather a rude way by one of the adults, whom I presume was the children's mother.

"Why are you taking photographs?" she asked in an aggressive manner

"Because I like to - it's my hobby" I replied as politely as possible

"What are you taking pictures of?" she retorted, again aggressively

"Of the scenery and the trees" I replied, again politely

"Have you taken any of us?" she said, by this time getting more aggressive

I'd had enough by now, so instead of rising to it I just walked away without replying. A bit sad don't you think?

Great bokeh potential here judging by the nice round OOF background lights. It's clearly a sharp lens and I would bet it will suit your shooting style down to the ground.

I have two 18-55's, a WR and a DA L. Of the two, the DAL is much the better copy, which is a bit of a pain as I wanted weather resistance to pair it with my K-5.

Lovely images posted in this thread, all very striking and very different.

Some great shots posted here, all of them pretty sharp. I do notice a lack of contrast in comparison with more modern lenses, but that's easy to fix in Post Processing.

Keep 'em coming guys - I'm particularly interested to see some shots taken with a Takumar 200mm F5.6 pre-set lens if anyone has any.

I bet you couldn't take shots like that in Sheffield at the moment Neil! I was thinking about doing some macros, but soon got fed up of taking shots of ice crystals.

Lovely shots, all three.

Funny! Good job I'm happy with my current gear, otherwise I would have lots of sleepless nights worrying about when the K-3 is due.

Not a bad lens that 18-55 is it? Lovely images, such gorgeous colours and compositions.

That moon shot is great Andrew, the lens looks pretty sharp. The only problems I find with my Tamron is that it's prone to green fringing in high contrast areas and it can tend to over-emphasise Magenta tones in some light conditions, but for £20 that's nit-picking!

I can't wait to give my 200mm Takumar Pre-set a real workout to see how that does.
