Who's making a fuss? It's posted up for critique and that's what I offered. I merely said that colour pop can be good but this isn't it. Hardly a fuss!
Hi Gareth, I wasn't referring in particular to this thread, but more to a recent history of threads on this subject, some of which got quite nasty and resulted in things being said and done which have no place on the forum or this website. I don't know whether or not you read the other threads, so I don't know if you are aware of this.

The danger on Forums is for comments to be read in isolation and this can lead to misunderstandings. I know there will be a lot of members who are aware of the other threads on colour-popping and may understand why I made the comments about 'fuss'.

In your experience, when shooting indoors with low light as described above what shutter speed can you work acceptably to. I realise it will be different depending on the focal length but, what will you not drop below
It depends very much on the lens and as you have mentioned, the focal length. I can hand-hold with no issues down to around 1/15 or 1/10 of a second, but the real point is not how well you can hold the camera still but how you can avoid blur in the subjects. People will be moving around, even a slight head movement can ruin a shot so I usually aim for 1/50 or 1/60 minimum and ideally work to 1/80 or 1/125.

I am a bit further North Tim, maybe 90 miles away in South Sheffield, if you can make it that far I would be delighted to let you borrow my K-5IIs.

I have both the K-5 and the K-5IIs and have used them both extensively. Since getting the IIs, the K-5 has been relegated to second string duties. The IIs is much better. In particular the focussing on the MkII is extremely accurate and is a huge step up from the AF on the K-5. With 'problem' lenses that have issues locking on with the K-5 in some situations (e.g. DA L 55-300, Sigma 105 DG EX Macro, DA 17-70) the IIs has no problems even in the dimmest of light.

The IIs images are also easier to process, being very clean and sharp right out of the camera and generally the IIs produces higher quality results.

I went nearly 15 years without using my SLR's, after we had a family I seemed to lose interest. It was digital that re-kindled the fire and a Pentax K-x in particular. Since then, I haven't lost the passion at any point; I always try to vary the types of photography I do, which I think does help.

Lots of hands on experience with the K-5IIs. A truly magnificent camera - apologies to Smeggy for the hyperbole but I really mean this.

Mine has proved itself over and over again in all shooting situations. Don't worry about moire - it is a non-issue in 99.9% of real world shots. AF accuracy is awesome, IQ is awesome compared to any other camera I have owned or used.

My vote would be K-5IIs with no hesitation.
