Alternatively look for a program online (freebie) called PhotoMe, this also gives access to loads of additional EXIF info that photoshop wont display.
Easier still; install Firefox as your browser, then just right click on any image.

If possible try and stop down a bit, to say f8
And don`t forget you can raise the ISO to compensate and also give a faster shutter speed. Your second was in shutter priority so presumably you set the speed at 1/15, a bit optimistic for hand held at 300mm.

I tried some general shots of the shoppers, but wasn't happy with them
So what`s wrong with Welsh shoppers ? not pretty enough

The daft thing is I work 5 miles from it, live 15 miles from there, and am a National Trust member, but have never been to Erddig.

Not a PKA,
However, still a good buy, here
Seeing as it`s nearly Christmas £20 inc postage to Lanarkshire.

I have Picasa installed on my computer - how does that compare with Photobucket?
Welcome to the forum Vern.

I use Picasa as a viewer and use Photobucket to publish images here. Flickr is reserved for images I want to keep. By just having one site to post images onto the forum it doesn`t matter about file organisation etc. Photobucket is very simple to use and quite reliable, it also means that images stay linked so even old post`s still have the image in them. No dreaded "image not available" messages.

anyone recommend a cheap good one?
Ah, the holy grail of photography, good cheap macro`s are as rare as the proverbial rocking horse droppings. You may get lucky on ebay, but I wouldn`t bet on it.

Never seen the need for it myself, 95% of my shots are done in aperture priority. The remainder in manual.

splitting kits up is quite a common practice
And a curious practice at that. Looking at secondhand listings a lot of sellers put a premium on having the original box, so, unless the un-boxed item price is reduced to reflect this then i would not be happy.

I have a mint set of Kenko AF tubes which i never use.
Do not understand why they are called AF, as there is no screw coupling.
