Does 18-135 WR come boxed?

I have just received a new Pentax K-5 and 18-135 WR from SRS. The camera was boxed, but the lens was just in bubble wrap?
Have other people received a box with their 18-135s?
Cheers Rob

If you buy as a kit then normally the lens is unboxed (or in the main box with the camera).

I recently bought 18-135 from SRS and it came unboxed. I queried this with them and was informed the lens came from a split kit. I was reassured that as long as I kept the dated receipt from SRS the warranty would be ok.
I haven't done any specific tests on the lens but it seems quite adequate for my purposes ie walkabout and occassional prints up to A4.

If it was part of a kit purchase that would be fine but if it's a full priced retail lens then I would want a box.

My K5 body came in a twin lens kit box, I thought Christmas had come early till I opened the box to find it contained mostly empty space So someone somewhere will be getting a couple of kit lenses without a box

I think splitting kits up is quite a common practice, perhaps the dealers get them at a better price than ordering them as individual items.

And a curious practice at that. Looking at secondhand listings a lot of sellers put a premium on having the original box, so, unless the un-boxed item price is reduced to reflect this then i would not be happy.
