Nikon D300 which is the same price, I will leave that there though as this is a Pentax forum.
So a comparison with the K7 would be of interest:

Thanks for that Gwyn.
Then probably reading comparisons between say Tamron and Sigma on a Canon mount would not have much relevance to how they perform in a Pentax set-up.

Apologies if this has been asked before, cannot find it on a search;
If I read a lens review on say a Sigma with a Cannon mount can I assume the lens characteristics would be the same on a Pentax mount?

Typical of you to give us such a challenging image. Technically it`s a cracker, as usual.

Hi Neil,
I think the biggest learning point for me is getting the initial composition correct, had lots of shots where i wished i could go back and re-frame an inch or two to the left or right. Still it`s all part of the fun.

Would be proud to have taken nos 1 and 2.
No1 particularly really jumps off the screen, a great shot, well composed. For me the crop is not quite right on no3; the funnel on the left is obtrusive and perhaps and extra inch on the right hand side may have worked better, the sky also looks a bit odd.

Suppose the issues above demonstrate the downside to being an early adopter. It seems to me that every time i hear of a new electronics product being introduced then problems quickly follow. Perhaps the manufacturers need to spend a little bit more time on testing, rather than rushing to market and upsetting the early adopters, who quite often are loyal customers to the particular brand.

Think the point i was trying to make is this; Any image produced electronically can be examined at the highest level of resolution on a screen, i.e. pixel level. Whereas generally one views the world at a much lower resolution, so, is a slightly soft image more pleasing to the eye when viewed as a print?

I suppose it's all part of the over-processing of pictures which is now so commonplace that many people think it's normal and right.
An interesting point, for me the image looks slightly too sharp, but my eyes are getting on now, am used to seeing slightly blurred images in real life. Perhaps sharpness is in the eye of the beholder? in which case can an image never be too sharp, or soft ?
