She did not want to post it without my permission. Am happy for anyone to play with any images I post for C&C, seeing other peoples take on things helps me learn.
Martin, that is brilliant.
Many thanks for the time you both have taken, have definately learned something here, am off to practice.

The problem I have is that my wife loves this image and wants me to do a large fabric print.
I agree with you, it does lack a feature, perhaps the views above may help to change her mind

1st tip, leave room for the subject to enter or leave the frame; looking at the pelican it`s beak is butting right against the edge of frame, it would look much better had it been more to the left.
2nd tip, Sharpness matters, always use the highest shutter speed you can, remember you can up the ISO to 400 without any noticable difference in noise levels in reasionably well lit scenes. Focus on the subject; in image 4 it looks like you have focused on the water drops behind the bird.
3rd tip, pay attention to the background, in your last 2 images there is a reflection of a pole, and quite a lot of weed, far to distracting.
4th tip, don`t be discouraged, practice really does make a difference.
5th tip, if posting several images for c&c, number them, it makes it easier to refer to specific photo`s.
Hope the above helps, of course other more worthy people may have better ideas.
