What you are almost certainly seeing is refraction caused by the atmosphere that constantly causes the image to 'undulate' (the same effect is what makes the stars 'twinkle'). The amount of image movement due to atmospheric disturbance almost certainly exceeds the sensor movement used by Pixel Shift. This woudl be enough to give 'movement' artifacts when using Pixel Shift.

This was a concern when I bought into Affinity Photo. I had been a Photo Plus user and was HOUNDED by emails and sometimes even calls to my mobile. Happily, this no longer seems to be the case. I will reserve full judgement until the next version is out. However, for now, it seems they have stopped the aggressive sales calls/emails.

Given that you can get Adobe Bridge for free without a subscription for organisation purposes, I decided to give it a go. Rather than restricting myself to a ten day trial, I just bought Affinity Photo and switched overnight to a new workflow (see attached PDF). I am not an Adobe ‘hater’, but I do not like the subscription model and I do not like having to import all my images into the Lightroom Database. I have been using Affinity Photo over a month now and I am very happy. It’s not perfect, but it is stable and is a good replacement for Photoshop (it has most of the features most of us will ever need for a one-off payment of just £48 ). I will almost certainly not go back to Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC now and I intend to cancel my CC Photography subscription.

Personally, I would go for a K3-II or a KP as a second body. It mitigates failure and had the advantage of providing extra reach with the same lenses due to the crop factor. It also provides a slightly more compact camera for carrying on vacation if needed. I also use a K-1 as my primary camera. I still have my old K-r, but I woudl like a better camera as my second body. I even have the diminutive Q10 which can give surprisingly good results.

I'd just like to add that I use this lens with my K1. Its a great lens; very sharp.

I jumped ship to Sony and got an Ay 18 months back because I got tired of waiting for a Pentax FF. The A7 was nice, but awkward to use. The EVF was good in daylight, but a nightmare at night. Long story short, I pre-ordered a K-1 from the fine folks at SRS and traded in. One week in I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever. My only issue is that an EVF makes you a bit lazy and I'm having to get used to using a DLSR again. If you have the money and a passion for photography, go for it. The K-1 is a lovely bit of kit.

There is a lot of commentary about performance here. For me the reason to use Pentax are more about how the camera handles. I have never used a Nikon camera, but I have owned and used Canon DSLRs and the Sony A7. I actually bought the A7 a couple of years ago when I lost faith that Pentax would ever release a FF camera. I just traded the A7 in for a K-1. I also considered upgrading to the A7R II but opted to go the Pentax K-1 route because of how it handles. It seems to me that Pentax just get the 'touchy-feely' side of things right. Controls are well placed and feel good. The camera bodies feel robust and up to the job (I was always a bit worried about my A7 in this regard). The Pentax feature set is well thought out and just feels more 'photographer-centric' than, say, a Sony A7.

I recently purchased my K-1 from SRS and my K-30 before that. I have always found them to be great to deal with. Good product knowledge, impartial and excellent advise and an obvious passion fro photography.

Yes, there is a fairly marked moustache distortion with this lens. Yes, it is more pronounced in FF as you see more of it. That having been said, it is possible to take some nice architectural and landscape images with this lens. There is a profile in LR, but nothing in my preferred software for RAW development (DxO Optics Pro). Many of the images in my Flickr Photostream have been taken with this lens (mainly using the Sony A7 that I just traded in to get my K-1).
