I am no expert, but I think the K5 and SDM lenses have a higher fault rate than equivalent camera/lenses from the big two.

I still love my kit though and I would not change it I anything outthere.

Update

Very pleased to report that, the retailer has replaced the lens.

On the phone, I was told to return it for repairs. After seeing a few responses here, I sent the lens with a note saying that I think it should be replaced given the age.

So HUGE thumbs up for Park Cameras for replacing the lens

Considering this as it seems well priced for a simple flash which is wireless capable.

Has anyone got one? Any reason not to get it?

To be used for indoors and macro (with a diffuser)

Makes my purchase of the Sigma 105 a while ago seem an absolute steal. Jessops in Norwich closing down sale, final reduction to clear - £126. Just happened to be passing and my wife persuaded me to go in. Wasn't even looking for a macro lens at the time. Though having said that, it's rarely been off my camera since................ until today when my DA* 50-135 arrived.
Wow that was a bargain, at that sort of price you can't loose
What a bargain? - what a wife !

Hence my post about Pentax QC which got locked

As a self confessed fussy person, the lens was not like that when I received it or after my trip to the North East.

Took it with me on Sunday for a walk and only noticed it when I got back home to look at my pictures.

Was just looking at my new 18-135 WR today and I noticed that one the elements inside the front glass looks like it's chipped. The front element is mint.

The lens was bought new about a month ago from a Pentax Pro centre and only been used 2/3 times and has not suffered any knocks or falls.

What should I do? Contact Pentax UK or the retailer?
Good grief that chip looks horrific ...
Did that arrive by itself ?
Presumably not there when you bought it.
If it's just pinged off my itself that raises interesting questions.

I won't repeat what I have already said. I love my Pentax kit, but if Ricoh Pentax does make major changes to QC, I'm afraid Pentax as a brand won't be here in 10 years time.

I once used the strap stretched tight like a bow and used an exposure time around 1/15 and was surprised how many keepers I got.
