Just to balance things up, I couldn't be more happy with SRS.
Phone was answered quickly, they did what they said they would do (free postage) and my K5 arrived before Paypal had even released the funds. I buy all my big items through them.

The Mac updater above and also the one for the 58 AF-1 won't launch on my machine. I have informed Metz. Anyone else had this problem?
Looks like I'm gong to have to enter the dark side and start up, gulp... the PC; wish me luck, I can feel an icy breeze building around my feet as I type...

I have the 58-af-1 and to be honest, it is nearly always on manual or 'A'. Pttl is too easily fooled by small bright things. It is also very often not on the camera at all, hence manual mode.
'A' is almost flawless for normal work.
However, despite rarely using all its features, when my last one broke, I bought another, mainly for the sheer power.
Not sure if that helps really

If you like playing with settings then posh flashes have lots of potential, strobing and high-speed-synch for example. Maybe I'm just lazy

More often than not, I take a tripod and end up putting the camera on a rock or up against a tree hand-held. Recently I've taken to carrying small sandwich bags, which can be filled with sand or dirt and make the best tripods ever! My SLR gorillapod only ever gets used for holding lights - it's almost useless as it vibrates and bounces even with mirror slap.
Personally, I'd have to have a super-wide, and I probably wouldn't bother with the 50mm.
But I would definitely not take a tripod, that's worth 3 lenses in weight.

I'm not sure the filename is an accurate measure, as it can 'go round the clock'. But I was guessing about 9000, so it may be correct. I'm sure someone will tell us

Last image taken by the K10D (and Tamron 70-300 on macro), I don't have exif reader here, so feel free to check it out.

Note the small piece of rubber missing from bottom-right of eyecup, not significant really. That's about it, looks as good as new at arm's length. No scratches.

I'll try and get my arse in gear and sort out the K-x pictures - it's the blue one and it's unmarked.

Incidentally, the images were taken with flash pointing at white ceiling and big window with closed white blinds behind.

All boxed with accessories.

I'll get back to you with details, but having a K7 and today a K5 I have no need for these two gems.
I'll be really sorry to see them go, but I only have two hands!

K10 has a genuine grip and spare battery (could be sold separately, fits K20D).
I still think the K10 has delivered the best pictures I have ever taken, but I need low light ability and speed.

The (blue) K-x is an absolute gem! unbelievable low light ability (virtually goes off in the dark) and frankly I ought to just keep it. this is the camera that always goes with me. Perfect for holidays or nights out.

I'll be secretly happy to not sell either of these but make me an offer!

I haven't checked prices but I suspect the K10D and grip is worth around £250.
And the K-x slightly more.

Incidentally, I have a bunch of manual primes also 135mm, 200mm

Anyway... must work

I would say that 50 percent of my shots outdoors are into the sun. No problems yet.

What I don't know is what happens if you take a picture with D-Range on, when you didn't need it. Does it boost the shadows and cut the brights anyway, or is it clever enough to only do it if it needs to?
LOL, damn I hadn't considered that

I recently did a commercial photoshoot in a lab with white coats, remote flashes, everything on manual. Trouble is I forgot to turn Raw capture back on and a lot of white coats were clipped. Maybe this D-setting would have saved me.

Thanks Chris
