Nice one Scott, that sorted it. Thanks
I hadn't told the camera to save sensitivity settings in memory. I'm not sure what happened to our manual but I missed that bit a few weeks ago anyway.

Hyram, so far I am pretty underwhelmed by the camera. I'm hoping the waterproofing will be useful because the image quality is dreadful even at 100 iso.
It's so bad that even reducing for web doesn't eliminate it - this is as good as I can get.

.
Hopefully, the bright Summer will help to reduce the noise when we are all splashing in the sea putting the waterproofing to the test.

I'll have to give up for a while Scott. She-who-must-be-odeyed has just gone out on the razz with the Camera so I can't try anything out. I'll kick this off again tomorrow - I'm sure I'm not the first to get stuck on this problem.
Wish me luck with the baby sitting!

auto and program we've tried, and a hundred others. But I'm fairly sure they all revert to default after shutdown.

This is driving us nuts! every time we turn it off it goes back to auto iso 800 - absolutely useless!
I want to foce it to stay on 100 and rely on the flash.
Any ideas?

For anyone who knew I have been trying to get into the Pentax Gallery - I'm in yeh!
I'm really pleased because 3 of the 4 were chosen - Pentax Gallery
It's a bit of a game because the rules are very strict but I managed to find a few which fitted.
I was getting a little disillusioned with my lack of kit (too much time on this forum :roll and haven't been out much, but maybe I'll try a little harder now.
I think I can make do with what I have for a little longer but the lens I really have to have is the FA 50 1:4 - I love my M but I just need one more hand all the time... whitter whitter zzz

Nice one Simon, Well done! and they look great on my monitor too
Must be a great feeling - I had to make do with publishing my own magazine and being the only photographer

I know Roscoe, but I, and possibly he, want to make a point about image quality. He may not be able to stop the marketing men pushing mega pixels at the expense of smudgy noise. and this may have been happening throughout the life of all their digital cameras.
It seems to me that only the K20 has this sorted.

The trick is to open up a text file (not Word! unless you like corruptions)
and make your judging notes throughout the week.
