This is driving us nuts! every time we turn it off it goes back to auto iso 800 - absolutely useless!
I want to foce it to stay on 100 and rely on the flash.
Any ideas?

auto and program we've tried, and a hundred others. But I'm fairly sure they all revert to default after shutdown.

I'll have to give up for a while Scott. She-who-must-be-odeyed has just gone out on the razz with the Camera so I can't try anything out. I'll kick this off again tomorrow - I'm sure I'm not the first to get stuck on this problem.
Wish me luck with the baby sitting!

Nice one Scott, that sorted it. Thanks
I hadn't told the camera to save sensitivity settings in memory. I'm not sure what happened to our manual but I missed that bit a few weeks ago anyway.

Hyram, so far I am pretty underwhelmed by the camera. I'm hoping the waterproofing will be useful because the image quality is dreadful even at 100 iso.
It's so bad that even reducing for web doesn't eliminate it - this is as good as I can get.

.
Hopefully, the bright Summer will help to reduce the noise when we are all splashing in the sea putting the waterproofing to the test.

Maybe I'm a real fuss pot when it comes to noise. I reckon my K10 is pretty poor also - I never let it go above 200 and I would have to be desperate then. I used to buy 1600asa film just for the lovely grain but smudgy digital noise is 'orrible

looking forward to the camera makers finally concentrating on quality rather than mega pixels that nobody needs.

far point everyone is different, i have seen pics with the k10d at iso 400 that did look poor, my k100d super was very good the k200d is very good up to iso 800, as is the k20d and at 1600 the k20d is better than the k200. but the k100d super had the least noise from iso 1600 to 3200. and the sony a350 which gets top reviews was shocking over iso 200.
