Is this any way for the President of Pentax Imaging (USA) Ned Bunnell to carry on
Well if you check out the image quality of his pics (shot between 200 and 400 iso) you see why.
I have yet to see a Pentax compact with well controlled noise - our W60 is absolutely abysmal even at 100 iso. That Leica's images are possibly better than the K10D!

Maybe he has his hands tied at Pentax and he wants to make a point...

you know how your sock drawer becomes filled with odd socks? - well, drop your compact into one of those - snug as a bug

oh well... the 64bit version of Windows 7 was even worse. Installation was a breeze - really impressed with that, but absolutely nothing else works.
XP pro it is then.

I can vouch for heat-shrink cable wrap. These guys can supply anything you might need and even print your name on it too! Heat shrink sleeving

The Tamron is convenient and can produce sharp images if backed off and closed down but the Purple fringing (on mine at least) gets absolutely everywhere, it's such a pain in the arris I can't be bothered with it.
I don't think I will ever be able to afford the DA*300 so I am heading for the 50-300, please get this Kris and tell me how you get on

Pete, do you have any software which can sharpen selectively? I actually prefer the unprocessed background
I would say the lens was a Tamron 70-300, am I right?

Ashley, I still use JPGs most of the time - life's too short. If I have a corker of an image or one with a high dynamic range, I might dig out the Raw and have a play, always saving as TIFF.

Just for the record, I installed Windows 7 Beta onto a new drive on my fastest (but redundant) machine. It hung 3 times then finally installed very quickly and seemed to have all the drivers. Unfortunately it is extremely unstable - freezing dead quite regularly. Adobe Master suite will not install. Tried all the updates and now I have lost my network
Have given up on it.
I'm going to try the 64bit version just on a hunch. There has been talk of memory problems on the 32bit version (over 2GB).
This is all a bit unusual for me - I'm firmly in the 'don't upgrade until it breaks' camp.

Am I the only one who actually wanted one of these? this was my Christmas pressie. If any of you guys bought one just to make a tenner and it has arrived - how about donating it at cost to a worthy cause? and if mine arrives I'll send it to you to flog

I've just downloaded Windows 7 because I am refurbishing the fastest machine in the office (new hard drive) and I can't get any of my XP Pro disks to work.
Is Windows 7 essentially Vista? in as much as using up all the system resources just to run itself and look pretty even tho' you never see it if you are working properly?

I'm sure you're right Gartmore, but my 'M' cost me £10. and my 28mm cost me 99p - both cracking lenses and only a tiny amount of hassle really.
