Some of my first posts had images in, so I don't think that's it.

Seems a bit strange that the Photobucket site uses 'i80' and 's80' for URL's, both seem to work, although obviously not for IS.

Same image, one using 's' and one using 'i'. Second link wasd copied direct from IS's post.

Hi IS,

Can't see immediately why the image didn't show in page, but the link to the page had an extra [/img] tag at the end of it, it should have been:

http://s80.photobucket.com/albums/j168/impotentspider/Macro%20Work/

Ah, the image had 'i80.photobucket' instead of 's80.photobucket'. Should show below:

What a big bee! It's amazing just how hairy they are once you get nice and close to them. Did you stroke this one?

If they had, I'm sure there are many people who would have liked to have bought one instead of a DS or a DL.

Anyway, Impotentspider, yes the 10mp model will have Anti-Shake, I think that's been confirmed - crazy if not. I agree, I don't think I'd want to 'upgrade' to a new model if it had 6mp and anti-shake, such as the K100. But I might still have been tempted to get one as a second body, if it were built to the same standards as the D, i.e. two control wheels, vertical grip, more accessible controls (focus point selectors etc). As it will be a 10mp model, with all of the above and more, including a much bigger rear screen, I can't see a reason for me not to get one.

Just the other day, I was sitting in my garden, with my D set up to take remote pictures of birds at the pond, when I wished I had another body to take photos of all the other things that were going on - birds in the bushes, butterflies etc.

Fingers crossed the new model will deliver.

If the bosses at Pentax have the slightest idea about marketing, they won't be anything other than 'excited' about the pricing - if we heard they were 'quite glum' about it, we'd soon all feel the same way!

P.S. I ran a workshop on saturday, and one of the attendees had recently bought himself a Canon 350D - he was quite dismayed when he found out that he could have bought an SLR that had image stabilising for any lens. Once again, I suspect it was a shop assistant saying "what you need is one of these...".

Lets hope for 100,000 pennies or, preferably, less. I suspect it might be £1,099 RRP, £900 in the shops.

And I'm not going to say whether that's with or without a lens, of any description.

I'm thinking this price so that's it's pitched below the D200, but I don't think Pentax will be cutting the price down to the Sony level, but it would be nice if they did.

I've already altered my guess, by £200 (and then again, by £99 ).

Okay, lets say between £700 and £1400!

Hi Niblue,

Thought you'd been a bit quiet lately - hope (expect) you had a great time in Norway.

So that long list of gear, was that "A comprehensive kit to cover all opportunities" or "A reduced Travel Kit but still covering most things"

Recently added the Sigma 10-20mm to my own kit, used it for some internal shots of a very small house, and it looks cracking, so thanks for your recommendation of it.

Enjoy sifting through your 2000 shots.

I tend to holiday in the UK, so my main Lowepro bag goes in the boot of the car, along with a smaller Jessops bag which has my 300 2.8 in, and another smaller one with various chargers, leads etc.

No doubt it would be different if I was flying somewhere.

Definitely "a photographic trip that is an opportunity for new images"!

If you hold down the 'menu' button whilst you turn the camera on, it will tell you what version you have loaded. Not sure though that the firmware version would make any difference, from the description of the updates given on the pentax website.

If you want to send me your PKA tubes, I'll try them out for you. I'll send you my PK ones to be getting on with, until I'm finished with yours. Not sure how long that would be...

Firmware version for the istD is 1.12, unless I've missed something

http://www.pentaximaging.com/customer_care/show_firmware?firmId=1

Another thing to check is the AD2 adaptor on your Tamron lens, if it's this type - i.e. a manual focus lens with removable adaptor. It needs to be a PKA mount too, but I guess perhaps you would already know that.

And you should have the lens aperture ring set to 'A'. If not, the value won't show on the body (but then it shouldn't be recorded in the EXIF data either , well certainly isn't on my D).

Found this which explains what the different contacts are used for.
