You can save the printer settings for the Canon printer (I have the 4200 model) under the 'profiles' tab of the printer driver. So once you've got all the settings right for a particulat paper, save the settings, then apply these before you print next time.

I've got ones set up for greetings cards, 6x4 prints on specific paper, calendars etc.

Peter,

What software do you 'work on' the scans of your beloved film?

Anyway, your signature has to change:

I thought there'd been an earthquake this morning - definitely heard and felt a rumble, and several aftershocks... I was sure I was near the epicentre.

Turns out it was Peter contemplating a digital SLR!

Go for it Peter, we're all here to help you, and (gulp) you know where I live! I'd be happy to show you the ropes.

I can't believe the YA guy told you to go Canon!?! I've spoken to plenty of Canon users who'd happily jump ship if they wouldn't have to re-equip with lenses, so don't think they offer anything Pentax doesn't, and the K10D offers plenty that nothing from Canon does. Do you like Pentax lenses?

I think it's a little late to be thinking about your credibility now, we all know you far too well. Will it let you 'get down with the kids'? I think not.

Tom,

With a shot like that, I reckon you could have a good go at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition - they've got categories for different age groups, and these are often birds or mammals, but a pic like this could really stand out for the judges.

They're just about to start accepting entries for the 2007 competition, details are found from the link below:

Tom, I'm jealous!

That's a superb pic, most definitely wish I'd taken it myself.

Welcome to the board, please post more of your macro work (or anything else you produce ).

the vosonic is more because I'm going to be away from my computer in the most beautiful place I've ever been (Vancuver Island, BC) for 2 solid weeks and a HDD is cheaper than 40 1GB cards
Lucky you! Spent just a few days there several years ago, and it was beautiful - China and French Beaches are just wonderful with the driftwood and stones and Pacific Ocean, Pert Renfrew was a little odd - went into the bar there, couple of locals inside, one wild haired woman with a parrot on her shoulder, made me think 'Twin Peaks' or 'Northern Exposure'.

Victoria's a lovely little city too, how London should be.

Have a great time, don't get eaten by a bear.

Hi Scoker, and welcome to the forum!

So far Brian has got the best moon shot on here, as the link above shows. Note that he used a 400mm lens with a 2x convertor, giving a focal length of 800mm. Don't be surprised when you don't get quite as 'close' to the moon as Brian did when you use your 300mm lens, but don't let it put you off.

Don't Jessops have a price match policy, which I think now includes the internet?

Worth asking if they'll match the picstop price for that card (£14.90), then at least you've got something to be playing with while you shop around for another one.
