Am sorely tempted by the Pentax lens but am unsure if either of the others are better lenses.
I've got the Sigma and it's a lovely lens. Very solid build, good quality images, got mine second hand for £90. Couldn't be happier with it. Even better on the K10D than it was on the istD.
But I've heard good things about the Tamron, and of course the Pentax. There have ben various threads, with pics, on here before. Have a search and see what they say.

a) You can Gift Aid your donation back to the charity, and they then get the income tax you've paid on that amount, at the basic rate (22%). So you donate £10, they actually get £12.82.
b) If you're a Higher Rate tax payer, you get your lower rate tax limit raised by the amount you donate. So you pay the government less higher rate tax.
Bottom line is, if you donate to charity, make sure you Gift Aid it!

P.S. I'm not saying to Justgetoutandride that he should do that, that's entirely up to him (I often charge a charity for my services), but if people are considering donating anything, Gift Aid it!!

And I was thinking of perhaps the SMC-F 50/1.7, but then Matt says a thing like that...

Thanks for that! I took this with the manual focus 50mm f/1.7 lens, which I think tends to go for around £40-£50 on ebay. Haven't checked that, could be wrong.
I'm definitely tempted by the autofocus f/1.4 version, that SRS Microsystems have at £165 new. Various other places do them, but that's the best price I've seen. I guess they might come up second hand every so often, but perhaps not, as most owners seem very pleased with them.
As far as the two versions go, there's not a lot in it, I have to admit. The second one (sRGB colourspace) is, to me, a little more contrasty, so there's less detail in the shadows under the eyebrow, and more bright areas on the nose etc. I prefer the first one (AdobeRGB) because of this, but as I say, it's fairly subtle.

Good job you'd trimmed your beard, if you'd got that waterlogged you'd have never got moving at all. Might even have got tangled in the spokes...
