The original. Is it better with B&W then? That'll be handy for the ebay listing.

Hi All,

I'm going to ebay my Scan Elite 5400 35mm film scanner tomorrow, but just in case anyone here is interested, they can PM me.

£325 incl P&P (in the UK). They go for up to £400 on ebay, but obviously if you fancy it, you can bid for it instead and try for a bargain. Think of this as your 'Buy it now' option.

All in excellent condition, just missing the small reset tool, which I've never needed to use, and the copy of Elements 2.

Pics of it available if you want.

Cheers,
Dan

I use the P size Polariser and it's fine, does the job, although it doesn't like being dropped, so it's had it's fair share of superglue to hold it together.

I don't think the K100D has the same exposure problems with PK lenses, but someone who has one will have to confirm that, I have the K10D.

What camera are you thinking of using it on? If it's a K10D you might run into exposure problems if the lens you're lookingat is the one on Canadian ebay, as it's a PK mount, rather than a PKA.

Google it and have a look, there are some interesting comments, such as the ones on here: http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00KRFh

May well be worth the asking price...

Apparently, the Di lens "weighs 15 grams less and is 2.5mm shorter than the previous model." Not sure that's a good reason for an extra £30 though.

Generally the difference between 'digital' lenses and previous models is:

1) Special coatings on the rear element to absorb any reflected light from the sensor, reducing the chances of 'ghosting' (where the light then gets bounced back to the sensor and forms another image)

and/or

2) Different design which means the angle that the light hits the sensor is nearer perpendicular, the theory being that sensors don't like light hitting them at a sharp angle.

I have used non 'digital' lenses (including the Sigma 105mm macro) and not noticed any problems. I haven't tried the Tamrons.

Someone else may have the older Tamron and can offer you an opinion.

Hope that helps,
Dan

There's a manual focus Tokina on there at the moment.

But £6.99 is a steal, especially since the prices on the Amazon marketplace now range from £64 to £117 - and that's second hand, not new.

Any idea why it's so expensive? It was only £15.99 new...
Wow, think I might go and pinch the one they've got at Chelmsford library!
