The line "The man at the back side, kissing the woman’s cheek" did make me chuckle though.
Congratulations to all who entered, there were some great shots there, particularly liked Prieni's myself. I nearly entered a shot of some Braille, but then remembered this one, actually my wife's aunt and uncle, with my wife's phone, looking at a pic of one of our cats. But I thought it suited the theme, I'm glad Dirk agreed.
As an aside, and I don't know if this influenced the judging at all, but I deliberately made this black and white because I had a feeling Dirk liked it. Also helped because there was mixed lighting, so some strange purplish shadows.
Right, so I'll have a think and post the theme for next week soon.

I really like the shot, looks far more natural than a studio portrait (although I realise you could get the same effect in the studio). Think it's the shallow depth of field that I like, and that's something you don't see so often in the studio - with powerful lights smaller apertures are usually called for.

Any Pentax K-mount lens can be used on any Pentax DSLR without an adaptor. These date from 1976 onwards. A simple adaptor is used to enable the use of screw mount (M42) lenses.

Or you could just spend £50 on the Kats-eye one for your K10D.
As far as 'decent lenses' being 'way too expensive', check out the price of Canon L series lenses, some might consider those the nearest comparison to Pentax Limited (although plenty would disagree, like chalk and cheese really). Or there's the FA50mm f/1.4, which is about £100 cheaper than the Canon equivalent...

The first one is fantastic! Maybe I should get one of the Pentax primes... and an owl... and a K10D...

Here's a bit of a cliched shot, one of those "Oh no, not again" type, but here it is anyway...

K10D FA50mm 1.4 @ f/2.8 1/90s ISO100
The detail at 100% never fails to amaze me...

And another, just cos I like this one.

K10D FA50mm 1.4 @ f/2.8 1/1000s ISO100

There will be different opinions on this...
I would suggest looking at the Cokin 'P' size filters, or one of the compatables like Kood, or if you can stretch to it, the Lee filter range, as then you only need one polariser for all your lenses, rather than several of different sizes.
I use a Kood P size, and am pleased with it.
