I think when we judge a competition, we can only apply our own criteria as to what we consider a good image. We can see that John has no problem with the use of photoshop (https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5768&start=10), so we shouldn't expect him to rule out images that make use of it, or mark them down because of it.

The 'rules' of these competitions are very lax, because it's just a bit of fun. Sometimes things get 'placed' that I don't agree with, but I just think "oh well, that's what they like". It's nothing to get stressed about.

We all take photos, or create images, that we like, and then we show them to others who are totally indifferent, or negative, or who like them as much (or more so) than we do. It's why I like to think of photography as an art form.

And on another note, never mind the direction of the sun, what's all this fake 'black and white' photography stuff? It's not like that in real life. There's colour!

Well done again to Lilly, an obviously well deserved winner, and to everyone else who entered, really enjoyed seeing the different interpretations.

Mainly because I haven't got round to ebaying it, I'm just putting this on here again (mentioned it before we had the Classified section).

One Giottos MT-9371 Tripod and one Giottos MH7302-720 Fluid Ball Head. Both brand new, never used, in box, with tags etc. It was a star letter prize from Outdoor Photography magazine.

It's a lovely tripod, very tall and sturdy, with a nice way of getting the centre column horizontal, or even upside down if you wish. The head is also smooth, solid and easy to use. I think it's better than my Manfrotto 055ProB, but the mercenary side of me thinks I'll get more for this than my slightly battered Manfrotto.

The Tripod is the MT-9371 model.

The head is this MH7302-720 Fluid Ball Head model, includes QR plate. The QR plate is, I think, the same fitting as Arca-Swiss.

Approx. 25% off W.E. price + postage if anyone's interested, PM me if you are. So that's £110 for the tripod (normally £150), and £70 for the head (normally £95). Or offers if you feel so inclined. Postage at cost, or happy to meet fairly locally.

Cheers,
Dan
