That's a really weird effect, certainly quite abstract shots.
Tell you what, pop round my house and clean my car, I'll let you know if I get the same patterns in the morning.

We get this somewhat often in Canada.
If you're lucky you get to see the pattern form - it happens rather quickly.
Then the trick is to shoot it just as the sun hits, using a polarizer. It melts even faster than it forms.
Tricky shots - you did well.
Now go get us some St. Elmo's fire!

When I got out to the car this morning, shoved my bag on the backseat and saw this ice pattern on the rear side window:
Not as nice as Paul's, but I liked it. This was looking out from the back seat.

I only see those patterns when i open my freezer door.

I've seen patterns like Paul's, on my car the morning after cleaning and waxing it. I suspect that it's something to do with the way that moisture beads up on a freshly waxed surface, then freezes, allowing larger ice crystals to form.
Which gives me an idea, all I need is a sheet of polished metal, some car wax and a cold night (or my freezer)

I see them on my car too - and it never sees car shampoo let alone car wax

After spending the weekend cleaning, polishing and waxing my car, I got up monday morning and saw this .......
Not the best pictures but I was in a rush to get to work, anyway I do clean my car a lot (much to the wifes dismay) but thats the first time I have seen patterns like this
