I suspect there may well be a few K10Ds appearing on the secondhand market, might be better value to get one of those...

Number 3 has a load of 10-20 lens bend and could do with a drop of lens correction in CS3 if youve got it. Also its a bit flat and could do with lifting a whole lot. Looks like the reds been punched up a lot looking at the items on board ship.

Hope you dont mind - lens corrected that last one and poked it into B&W.
Robby, what have you done to the hillside? Looks completely solarized. : And I don't agree that the 'lens bend' needs correcting, to me just looks like a super-wide-angle shot. Everything looks a bit squashed in your version.

I think it's just over-exposed, and this may be over enthusiastic raw development - were you trying to get plenty of shadow detail MXV? I think you did just a bit too much, and it's got a washed out look, and if you check the histogram there's a gap at the shadow end, and a sharp peak at the whites, meaning that the highlights are blown out, and the shadows aren't as deep as they could be.

I'd have another go at processing this one. Do agree with Robby about the reds being very saturated though.

For the horizon line, I could have sworn that I checked that with a grid when I distorted the picture to straighten the verticals, so I assumed the current effect was an optical illusion due to the line made by the groyne. I *think* I checked the wrong version...
I'm a stickler for straight horizons, but 0.1 of a degree?!? I think it looks more than it is because everything else seems to be at an angle - the clouds, the water's edge, the post at the end of the groyne (I don't think that is either, I think it's just the way it's made, but can't see clearly enough to say for sure).

Where are you Robbo? You might be able to meet up with a fellow forum member who could check to make sure there's not something simple that the dealer missed.

...this Bigma has such a big front element i am worried something is going to hit it eventually. But in saying that the hood gives it pretty good protection so maybe i am being a bit paranoid.
Just keep the hood on. If you think about it, if there was a filter on there, anything that might damage the front element by hitting it is definitely going to break a thin filter and then you've got broken glass getting squashed onto the front element.

How sick would you be if you bumped the end of the lens with your elbow for instance? Without a filter it would be fine, with a filter, which would probably break, you've almost certainly scratched your lens.

If I was doing wedding then the two DA* are a good bet (you will need the f2....
Although that looks like "...you will need the f2 'cool!'" it actually meant "f2.8", but when you put a bracket after an 8 you get the cool emoticon. Happens quite frequently.

P.S. Congrats on your win, and surprisingly coherent post considering your celebrations.

Don't they still have the AF drive screw thingy? I know the Sigma HSM ones won't, but the current SDM lenses can do traditional AF too.

As I understand it, the DA and DA* lenses have an image circle to suit APS-C sized sensors. If used on film (35mm) SLR's, severe vignetting will occur at large aperture settings. The D-FA lenses have a 35mm image circle and will suit both film and digital SLR's.
Well, yes, that is what's been said, but this review (as linked by the OP) says otherwise.
