No, the ducks were 'hooded' ducks, and you don't want to go near the hoodies round here.

Got out with the camera yesterday, thought I'd show you that Essex isn't all flat, and that there are nice places to go in Basildon, of all places.

K10D, 16-45mm, polariser.

Known locally as Pitsea Cove, pity they're not a bit more sensitive as to where they put their signs.

Hi Martyn,

If you can still access the camera (i.e. it's not way above head height or out of reach) you could try a right-angled finder like this one which fits over the eyepiece and allows you to view from the side/above. I don't know whether this one is any good, it's just an example. Seagull branded ones are resepcted I think.

Alternatively, there is the Pentax 'Remote Assistant' software. I've never used this, so can't comment on how useful it would be, but the manual for the version applicable to your camera says:

"The PENTAX REMOTE Assistant is software that allows you to operate/control your digital camera from your computer via a USB cable connection. You can control everything from your computer from making settings to taking pictures all while checking it on your computer. And the pictures will be saved on your computer.

For example, if you were using identical lighting conditions to shoot a large number of product photos, you could set the camera on a tripod and simply change the products and shoot them one after another, without ever touching the camera. The photos are displayed on the screen, so you can check and then save them."

Details of all the software applicable to the *istD are on this page, from where you can also download it, and the manual first perhaps, to see if it will do what you want.

Have to agree with Clarky with this one. Your piano shot, with music overlaid, makes sense, but I don't see the connection between the stones and the tree... It looks as though it's a grassy landscape.

I notice a couple other new lenses on the roadmap have SDM, like the 50mm replacement. Not sure if it's a good thing that these drop the screw drive. backwards compatibility is one of the things Pentax has been known for.
So far all the SDM lenses work with the screw AF drive, how do you know it won't be the case in the future?

Fair enough, but I have a difficult time ignoring the more enlightened folk at Photozone...
Just had a look there, couldn't see any mention of the 16-50. Is there a review of it on there?

Yeay! Second place!!

Congrats Chirpy, thought for a minute you were going to get marked down for the composition, which I thought couldn't have been better.

And is that the fastest judging ever? I reckon so - well done Belinda.

P.S. The lines that look a bit like scratches on Don's fox shot look like out of focus spider webs to me - the long threads you see across the grass.

It just seems as though it's carrying on a previous conversation, a bit like when the wife says something that's a follow on from the thing she's been thinking about for the last hour.

It's just a bit dis-jointed, and would have made more sense in the original thread.

Mike,

When replying to a thread, click on the 'Post Reply' button, not the 'New Topic' one. Otherwise we'll end up with loads of new topics that don't make sense (like this one ).

Hopefully John or Matt can combine some of these...
