Well, I don't like to be picky, but that's not a female Hairy. Not sure what it is, but the markings are wrong (similar colours), and the pterostigma are dark, when they should be pale.

I'll have to go and get my dragonfly book for an ID, assuming it's one that appears in the UK, at least now and again.

Not sure what sort of macro stuff you do John, but I manage perfectly well with my K10D, and there are plenty of others on here that do too. I know you wouldn't have TTL control of your ringflash, but that might not actually be the huge drawback you perceive it to be.

Anyway, the Nikon range definitely has a wider selection of lenses and accessories at the moment, so hopefully you should be able to find all you need.

I don't think you could do better than the FA50mm f/1.4, a couple of example shots, which personally I think look a lot sharper than the example from your friend's Nikon, are here. Taken with my K10D. It's a bargain for the quality you get from this lens.

Hey, your webpage says that the Dounreay one was with the Sigma!

Liking the reflection shots, but not sure that gallery does them justice resolution-wise, some of the pics look a bit blurry to me.

Well, that's why the guy said there were going to be a whole load of lenses announced, including the more exotic ones like 600mm etc. And the DA*200 is already 135 size, just not designated as such. Perhaps the 300mm is too, haven't tried it myself.

Of course, it could well all be tish and piffle.

Not sure I understand then. I can't see any stitching failures.
Hit the 'play' button, it then comes up with several, un-stitched images. Note there are 25 images in Darkmonk's synthy.

...and I guess that there would be knock-on gains for the APS cameras - to have a mirror assembly that can do at least 3fps for 35mm, they'll need a new design capable of moving a larger, heavier mirror. Put that in an APS camera and they'll be able to move it quicker, and up goes the frame rate.

I'm sure there are other, similar benefits.

I agree with you Chris, I have no need of a 35mm sized sensor, but I guess if enough people need (or more likely want it), then there's a market for it. Hopefully this will be a K2D, and there'll be a K30D, and a K40D, and a K50D..., keeping us APS-happy users satisfied for years to come.
