Keep it simple. I get the impression that a lot of sites end up with unnecessary bells and whistles because the web engineer convinced the owner that they should pay extra to have them. Flash especially is an abomination in most cases, and I hope a pitchfork-wielding mob track down the wally who wrote Photobucket's uploading page so that it displays as an unusable jumbled mess on my Eee PC!

That's a thought - check it on netbooks as well as different browsers to make sure the formatting adapts elegantly.

Hmm, I'll be happy if I can get results like I see with HP5 and Ilford B&W chemicals! Providing I handled the camera's metering properly (working out where to meter from can be tricky) the results are usually contrasty and show plenty of detail without much noticeable grain.

Glad to hear someone got decent customer service from them. My last email exchange with them produced left me of the opinion that they weren't too fussed about having customers, meaning that my business went to SRS instead!

I spent most of today waiting for British Gas to turn up and service the boiler. They were booked to come between 10 and 12 (booking made three weeks ago). At about 11 I get a call "sorry, we're busy, we'll try to get to you by 3pm"...

I really do not care how busy you are. If you can't keep to the appointments that you made a month ago then you clearly do not have enough staff and need to spend some of your outrageous profits on employing more engineers!

I take it they won't mind if the next gas bill is paid late? After all, we're busy and will try to get the payment to them...

Naturally I heard plenty of jet activity while waiting. If I hear any tomorrow morning (and depending on what the weather does) I will be spending some time around the Claerwen at lunchtime with suitable foodstuffs and cameras, as I suspect it must be part of their standard training circuit.

Ah the pleasure of the total loss oil system!

Just walked in to the sitting room and there's a prog on about the Olympics, no problem there..

..but what is Boris wobbling on about!?
I doubt he knows what he's on about either! I'm getting fed up with the wall to wall London Olympics cheerleading by the BBC already. They will bring no benefits to the rest of us and will soak up money which could be far better spent elsewhere.

I have an even worse post-script...

After waiting around for a few minutes to see if he was coming back (or if one of his mates was about, as I could hear a jet engine somewhere nearby) I gave up and started driving down the valley. What should come over but a Tornado with assorted things hanging from the wing hardpoints!

Is there a site which details when and where they'll be low flying? I know they publish generic "there will be low flying on this date in Mid Wales" but not whether it's more area specific.

I quite fancy having a go at this. I know it's complicated but the main problem seems to be the temperature, the chemicals I've seen suggest that you only need two substances and they seem surprisingly tolerant. One bit of advice I saw claimed that if you made a water bath at a couple of degrees over the recommended temperature then it would remain within tolerances throughout the developing process (keeping the fixer warm while you use the developer). Not sure how realistic that idea is!

I'm guessing this is a problem with isofix child seats and LR seats not having the matching attachment points?

The photo that got away today...

Standing on the Claerwen dam I hear a faint noise, and look up to see a Hawk trainer coming straight for me at about 30 metres above the dam. I didn't have a chance to get the camera up before he roared overhead and carried on down the valley!

Looks fairly equal to me. I know they're supposed to be optically identical so this shouldn't be a surprise.

The other thing to bear in mind with most of the DA zooms is that they will vignette somewhere in their range (usually at the shorter end) if used on film.

Ah, see, the instructions with my recently-bought Paterson universal tank said to give the pin a couple of turns anyway in order to make sure no air bubbles stick to the film during the first minute or so?

I've only used mine for 120 film so far as I have the Agfa tank for 35mm. I quite fancy trying some C41 processing though, for which the Paterson tank should be more useful (plus if I'm going to that hassle I want to process more than one film at a time!)
