Hi
I carried out a simple test to see the difference in sharpness between these two lenses. On top of that, I also compared k100d vs k20d.
Both cameras were set to default, on aperture mode, Iso 200, F8.
Test shots were taken at 18mm in this order:
- k100d with DAL lens
- k100d with WR lens
- k20d with DAL lens
- k20d with WR lens

Another set was shot at 55mm in the same order.

- k100d with DAL lens
- k100d with WR lens
- k20d with DAL lens
- k20d with WR lens

Below are 100% crops of areas located close to the center of the frame.
Please note that k100d somewhat underexposed some of the images.

Looks fairly equal to me. I know they're supposed to be optically identical so this shouldn't be a surprise.

The last shot with the WR is sharper.

As Dangermouse said, it only proves these there is virtually no difference in performance, so if you dont mind plastic mount and lack of weather proofing then you can save few £££

Don't forget quick-shift and the lenshood, i don't care so much about the difference in coating.
