Nope, I've tried it and nothing happened. The lens is fine as it works on my Dad's K7, but no PZ on the K-m.

I really do not want "MS Windows Camera Edition"!

If they want to make a universal camera OS then make it open source. I'd like to be able to enable Power Zoom on my K-m (it has the contacts, it can power SDM lenses, so why not PZ? The K7 can handle PZ perfectly).

I may try a quick squirt of lighter fluid in the hope of freeing it up. The problem suggests dried-up lubricant rather than a real mechanical fault.

I did think about swapping the parts onto another one but I have a tidy black MES in need of a heart transplant first. That one won't cock the shutter at all, and a pair of tidy black MES (the other one works fine) would be rather nice to have...

I don't seem to have much luck with them. Of the four I have only one works properly, another winds and shoots but underexposes consistently (if you set it to 200ISO with 400ISO film it's correct), the second black one won't cock its shutter and the orange one only cocks intermittently!

A tip for the eventual owner - I have one of these hoods (and the 85-210mm zoom to go with it). The sticking clips can be improved by a drip of lighter fluid and working the clip a few times to clean the mechanism.

Sorry, to me it's always in the vandalism category unless the owner of the item which has been covered has given permission. It makes an area look rough and unkempt and simply attracts more damage.

Certain media elements trying to be trendy and chattering about Banksy does not help either - it just encourages any idiot with a spraycan to have a go!

At least yours work - my orange MES turns out to have the common M series problem of the shutter not always cocking. Generally when you first wind on it won't, but after that it will. Not terribly helpful if, like me, you tend to make a film last for a few weeks!

I have since had the chance to handle an 18-55mm WR lens and genuine hood. The genuine ones are better made and seem to click on more positively, but considering that they're a lot more expensive and fundamentally don't do a better or worse job I'm not rushing to replace my clone version.

Easy enough to put a lens hood on the DA-L version. I'll bet the usual Chinese copyshops will start making something to fit if the lens is a success.

To be honest I don't use a hood on my existing short primes, and I don't seem to have much trouble with flare. Obviously if it has a built-in hood then I'll use it.

It wasn't just cameras. I remember seeing a collection of seriously rare and valuable Marklin large scale trains on Antiques Roadshow which the owner had obtained in Germany immediately after the war. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd been bartered for a few ration packs.

It slots over the lens barrel and then clicks into the notches you can see there - it's a bit like the lid of a jam jar or indeed a bayonet fitting lightbulb.

This leaves the filter thread free for filters and also means that the hood will stay the right way up (with the longer petals on the top and bottom). The little clip-in bit on one side enables you to get at filters which need to be rotated such as polarisers.
