It's a sort of Catch 22 situation. You might decide not to switch to the CC and stick with whatever version of Photoshop you might use now for several years. If you change your camera are you going to have problems with RAW files if you buy a new camera or is that where the option of having DNG as a RAW format now becomes very useful thing to have.

Not really as so much for DNG becoming a universal format, I cannot see anyone but Adobe supporting it now and in the future you will have to go on the cloud to open them when your old adobe software no longer works on the latest operating system!

So much for a universal raw format it seems it was just another way for adobe to tie you into them.

I feel sorry for all those that bought into the Adobe lie of the universal raw format and converted all their native raw file into DNG.

I have two 18-55's, a WR and a DA L. Of the two, the DAL is much the better copy, which is a bit of a pain as I wanted weather resistance to pair it with my K-5.

David funnily enough I tested the DA L 18-55 when it came with my K-r after which I vowed never to use it again, which I did not.

Then I traded it and the K-r in for the K-30 and twin WR lens kit, I had not used the 18-55 WR since having it thinking it would be just as bad.

This thread made me get it out and do some test shots with it and surprise surprise I would be happy to use this one.

Off course this begs the question especially after these posts. is Pentax's quality control rubbish!
