I would of though quality glass should be the priority whatever camera one buys.

One would get the maximum from any given sensor with the best glass.

That is to say get the best glass you can afford to get the most from your sensor at any given focal length.

I think DXOMark scores will show for people who care about such things that the K-5 (any model) and the K-30 are close and often exceed a camera such as the 6D on sensor performance. Infact many would claim the K-5 models to be the best crop sensor. So at the same print size that is interesting.

To me this seems to be a justify the purchase thread - which we are all guilty of. But its on a Pentax forum. What would be expected a load of Pentax users defending the system [ of course! ]

Yes lenses prices have increased, but there is also the 2nd hand market. There are still good deals on new lenses if you look hard.

Other systems may have more lenses - In my case I don't anticipate ever owning more than about 6 though. So unless a certain lenses is really not doing it I don't see the issue here.

I also fine the K-7 AF just fine with a screw lens like the FA 35mm f2. I'm probably mad though. I do think bodies have become like computers. Some people have a 4Ghz CPU which cost them a lot, but they are just surfing the web. They also depreciate.

Stabilisation coming from the body is an important card for Pentax and Olympus systems IMO.

These are some of the best K-5 mk1 photos I think I've seen... which just shows how capable the mk1 is with quality glass..

What lenses do you have?

I would say forget the body and plough that money into the FA 31/43/77 if you don't have them.. and possibly the DA* 50-135mm

Hi

I think 80 is a bit low.

80 seems more like the non-WR price to me (going by ebay uk)...

If you can find things which suggest the WR 2nd hand might be worth 80 and post them on here I might reconsider your offer

thanks

I just wish they would make their mind up about FF...it's a very simple "yes we will" or "no we won't"
Its a difficult question to answer right now for them surely?

If they say no at this point they don't have the crop sensor 2013 camera out (which might be enough to keep disappointed FF people onboard) and could lose a bunch of users.

If they say yes, all hell breaks lose in a different way and also their rivals know.

Before I moved to pentax (k-7), I had a Panasonic G1 with an articulating screen. I've not missed the articulating screen. The top lcd on the k-7 is probably more useful to me.

WR and some of the best primes out there are big cards for Pentax IMO, not to mention the smaller bodies

Pentax are just a little too pedestrian when it comes to development
Would you say that if they unleash another K-5... and by that I mean if the new model(s) has the impact the K-5 did... surely it'd be worth this perceived hardship

Since the k-5 came out.. the k-30 was released.. arguably the best VFM DSLR at any price bracket.. or even ever?

Then there's the K-5iis pair that with a FA LTD or DA* lens and surely you have something very capable for less than other systems

and soon we will have something else
