Ok Guys,

Selling all my Pentax gear as it's just being used as a back up unit and I want to transfer all my gear over to the one brand. All equipment is boxed with end caps, pouches where supplied and I have owned them all from new. I'll leave the prices up to you guys, I'm looking reasonable/sensible offers but please try me as I'm willing to negotiate on a deal. I will supply a phone number if you message me, obviously will discuss any questions.

PENTAX K-5 - Body - Great condition, flash hot-shoe needs a wiggle sometimes if you have a large flash mounted.
Manufature Date 2011:07:21
Shutter Count 12,670

Pentax DA * SMC 50-135mm f2/8 Telephoto - Excellent Condition
Pentax FA 50mm f/1.4 Prime - Hardly used, Excellent Condition
Sigma 70mm Macro Lens 1:1 f/2.8 - Excellent Condition
Sigma 17-40 O/S Macro f/2.8 - f/4.0 Used half a dozen times - Excellent Condition
METZ 50 AF1 Flash - Well used but works 100% and in very good condition.

Like I said, make me a fair offer & I'll certainly consider it, ideally I would like it all to go as one but will split.

Thanks guys, regards, David

As long as the Sigma is a PK mount then it will fit. Can you not ask the shop what fitment it is?

It works fine, I use one on my K-5 as the Voltage is less than 5v.

Paid £12.00 for it and its a great flash for strobist work.

I concur, I own the 50mm 1.4 FA and I wouldn't part with it.

The DoF for portraits is wonderful.

Easy job to remove the pin, just don't stick it on the camera until you have modified it, they are a nightmare to get off trust me

Hi,

I use the Metz 50 AF-1 - its less than £200, has HSS (High Speed Sync)P-TTL and you get a couple of hundred shots out of it on a set of rechargeable (2450Mha)batteries.

Other points to note:

Works as a wireless slave off camera, great for popping light when doing strobist work.

It has a metal base, very strong unlike some other makes.

Firmware can be updated via USB - software released directly by Metz.

Had mine ages and use it all the time, its never missed a beat.

Hi,

I have a fast f2.8 Sigma zoom that covers both the 35mm & 50mm focal lengths and the SMC FA 50mm f1.4

The 50mm f1.4 beats the Sigma at every aperture, indoors with the K-5 ISO bumped up a little the nifty fifty is an absolute gem. It's around the £300 mark and well worth it IMHO.

You say you want flattering, at f1.4 it is admittedly a little on the soft side, however, from f1.8 onwards its super sharp and wide enough to allow light in for the AF to work without issue.

I love mine and it goes everywhere with me.

Have you considered constant lighting instead of flash?

The post relates to Strobist set-up, why would you want to use a constant light source outdoors when you have the sun?

Portable light sources of any kind can be moved to a more appropriate position, the sun can't. When it's cloudy, you have no sun.

Whilst the post relates to a strobist setup, that does not preclude alternative, and possibly better, suggestions.

Constant, or continuous lighting is used more and more nowadays, especially for product shoots and other studio work, due to the coming of age of lighting systems that do not 'cook' the subject.
The OP wants a basic strobist set up to get started, good luck with powering those continuous lights and carrying the battery packs around with you, oh and lets not forget the cost.

I'm not disregarding the use of continual lights but the guy is looking to do a bit of strobist work, not make the next Harry Potter blockbuster...
