Hi Guys
Just purchased a Kr the other day, got to say fair chuffed with it. I have got the 18-55mm and 80-200mm lens.
Anyway, I will be doing my sons wedding next year and the majority of the photos will be inside (not ideal, but that's the way it is going to work out)
So, what flashgun would be good/ideal for an event like this, any suggestions/opinions most welcome.
Cheers
Bobby

Hi,

I use the Metz 50 AF-1 - its less than £200, has HSS (High Speed Sync)P-TTL and you get a couple of hundred shots out of it on a set of rechargeable (2450Mha)batteries.

Other points to note:

Works as a wireless slave off camera, great for popping light when doing strobist work.

It has a metal base, very strong unlike some other makes.

Firmware can be updated via USB - software released directly by Metz.

Had mine ages and use it all the time, its never missed a beat.

Sigma 70mm 2.8 MACRO
Sigma 17mm-70mm F2.8 - 4

For a comparison of P-TTL flashes, see e.g., http://pttl.mattdm.org/features . However, the performance of P-TTL still is an issue of debate. Without going into detail, the choice of a flash with integrated control unit (like the Metz 40 MZ series) could be at least equally efficient. On the other hand, I possess several flash units but do not use them unless these are absolutely required. Perhaps a fast lens and higher ISOs would be more appropriate. For both scenarios: Do sufficient testing before usage. If you really want to shoot the wedding of your son, take my advice and do it on a supplementary option only. Enjoy the ceremony and leave the main work to a professional.
