I want to improve my insect photography capability. Which is the best tele-converter for use with the Pentax 100mm Macro Lens, from both past and present production tele-converters. I recently purchased a 'ASAHI OPT..TAKUMAR-A 2X TELE-CONVERTER' from 'e-bay' but I have been disappointed in the resultant images! They lack that crispness that I expect from my Pentax 100 mm Macro lens! As can be seen from my recent spider image added to the gallery on 25 May 2012.

Colin.

Don’t beat yourself up over your spider image, its better image quality than I have obtained using the, Pentax 100mm 2.8 WR macro lens, straight on a K5.

Also you did get it to work.

I tried a Vivitar x3 converter on my K5, with the Pentax 100mm macro, the camera just locked up and would not do anything, just displayed an error, can’t now remember what the error was, but it did scare the hell out of me at the time, as I thought I my have damaged the camera, but all was well after removing the converter.
Just mentioned this, as maybe, Vivitar converters are not compatible ?. It was manual.

Take care.

To see some good results using the Raynox conversion lens, go to the (Disabled Photographers Society), web site, then go to the forum, members images section, images by Claymore.

You do not have to be a member or log in to view the forum.

Note, the images using the Raynox lens are only in the forum, not in the site gallery.

Its is very simple, walk into your local library or any other library, go to the reference section, ask for the voting register, from there you can record all of the names and addresses for that area, its then very easy to allocate telephone numbers to all of those addresses, assuming they have a land line telephone and its not ex-directory, job done.
You do not have to declare who you are, before viewing this register.

Not been in a library for many years, the voting register was a book, its probably now on a computer database.

Company I used to work for, a few years ago, would be sent the voting registers for the whole county each year, I assume they came from the local authority ?.
We only used them for the service controller/dispatcher to use as address verification, as we operated a twenty four hour, seven days a week service.

But this register could have been used for any purpose you wanted, legitimate or not.

Take care.

Have a whistle handy.

A few years back we had a woman come to work in our office, she had been a telephone exchange operator (this was in the days before direct dialling), only we old farts can remember this.

We were talking about abusive telephone calls, she told us the best way to deal with such calls is a whistle, all telephone exchange operators were issued with a whistle, to be used in the event of abusive/obscene calls, apparently it actually causes pain to the caller.

I appreciate that the scam calls are not abusive or obscene, but they are invading your private space and time uninvited, and therefore deserve what they get, just the same as someone breaking into your or my home.

Take care.

They play full screen on my Mum's Panasonic and on our friends' Panasonic, so it must be something that in the settings Chris. Of course there will be a black band either side if the ratio isn't widescreen.
Thanks John.
You could be right, about the settings, its been a long time since I tried it so can’t remember what I did and did not do, other than loosing my temper with it and the instruction book.
Modern technology and me, do not make for good bed fellows.

But I do remember that the picture was just a small square in the centre of the screen.

In answer to your poll.

I don’t use Flicker, as I can't understand the site, far to complicated for my little brain.

Having said that, its not just Flicker, that’s a complete mystery to me, most sites are, including this one to some extent.

Take care.

The HDD/DVD Recorders have although I've never used mine?
Note sure if they do just movies or stills?
Algi.

Don’t bother with your TV, SD card facility.
I have a Panasonic TV, the problem is, anything recorded onto or played back from an SD card only displays at approx a quarter of the screen size.

Take care.

John.

A nice set of images, that lens works well, good depth of field control in most of the images.

Take care.

Studying the wood grain, I would say that the DA 18-35, has a slight edge, but it is only slight.

Take care.
