I'm so glad we have this form. Thankyou, for your prompt response. All is well. The lens wasn't set on "A" properly. I'm up and running. Thanks again, now maybe I can get some sleep! Thanks again. Good night.

So glad you're sorted !!

I very well know that awful sinking feeling you get when something expensive that's also your pride and joy stops working... and you suspect it's cos of something dumb you've done.

Most of us have been there... and re your , most of us have also learned that it's MUCH, MUCH better to briefly feel a bit foolish over missing some minor thing, than be stuck with an expensive repair and lengthy downtime.

There was a lot I didn't like about this shot, most of which has been covered already. I liked the waterfall, but I think this is a step backwards.

I strongly suspect that the rays are a complete con, and folk probably know by now that such fakery is very much not to my personal taste.

But all that aside, I really don't like the frames. The title and website URL emblazoned across the bottom strike me as very pretentious. It looks like advertising, and on an "asking for critique" thread, I think it's just wrong.

Anyway, you were away over the weekend, and missed my "asking for critique" thread. Do you like this:

Well I looked at this, and all it looks like to me is a parked Mini Cooper, taken with the camera at an angle, a bit out of focus, with a lot of chromatic aberration in the background.

I don't think it looks like it's moving AT ALL.

I am increasingly coming to the conclusion that a lot of this so-called "Post production" is a huge con, and a poor substitute for actual photography.

There's a lot of "Emperor's new clothes" about in the art world, and I'm starting to think it's true in the photographic world too.

well my car is quite old and solid, so perhaps your challenge should be to park it legally and without doing damage to other peoples cars in the process
Easy. Downing Street multi storey... 4am.

I have actually taken my car on more than one occasion because it's easier to park a car in this town than a bike
Ok, I challenge you to park your car outside Auntie's.

Eh . . no edits
I knew that really.

I like the boat pic. It's a nice clean shot. What camera?

Is there a way of seeing bigger versions of the pics on your site Matt?

I am not sure if any of you are aware but I work part time for the Police and I am now thinking of trying to go in full time instead of the Spain move.

Hmm, let me think, now. If Pete's thinking of full time police work, his attention to detail is probably excellent. Must be that Galoot edited this in afterwards then...

Sorry, too tedious to wait....have to agree with George.
Strongly agree. Not only too tedious, but even if you let it load (I did), the bloody pictures jump all over the place depending on where you move the mouse. I saw a couple of nice shots before frustration got the better of me.

A complete pain, IMO.

Even Matt's gallery, which is _much_ quicker to load, and a lot more usable that that one, doesn't (AFAICT) let you see the images at a decent size, which I find very disappointing, since they're worth looking at. I'd prefer non-Flash even for that.

It gives you nothing IMO, and it absolutely typical of the triumph of form over substance which is increasingly common.

Say you happened to get wonderful photo after pressing the shutter by mistake when holding the camera. Would you enjoy the picture any less than if you had spent a lot of time and effort on it?
Yes, or at least less than if it was in at least some sense deliberate.

Is there anyone that takes pictures here for whom the power and control involved in the creative process is of no consequence?
